1. Stupid protagonist. Weak author like to use the trope because it's easy. Most of the plot move because the protagonist did stupid things. Happens a lot in shoujo, harem/echi, action/adventure shounen.

2. Unbalance world. Happens a lot in light novel.

3. Reversal of point 1. Overpowered protagonist. The protagonist has no flaw. Therefore it doesn't have a ]need. Only wants. Happens in Rain, Yongbi, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor (Novel). A lot of them are light novel.

4. Weak minded protagonist. Happens a lot in harem/ecchi manga. Probably because it was actually the real life personality of the author (who wants his own harem).

5. I'm no prude, since I don't mind nudity in manga or film. But ecchi with no real story purpose other than to tease the reader really turn me off. Pick a side you pansy author, write a better story or just go hentai.

6. Manga that uses a lot of deus ex machine. Happens a lot in shounen (yeah, that lame power up... seriously). Just plain bad storycrafting.

7. Gambit Roulette Trope manga. Example of this is Death Note. The supposedly genius protagonist is written to make absolutely everything that happens be all according to his plan. Unfortunately, after a mere moment of thought, it becomes apparent how stupid that claim is as so many things happen completely outside his control that it is only by coincidence that things turn out as they do.

I have only dropped one so far. But here are possible reasons for me to drop it:

Very very boring story. Especially the shallow ones.
Bad artwork. But I'd tolerate this if the story's good.
If the story goes even slower than a snail's pace.

- Boring and the whole story gets confusing (Zetman)
- Annoying. (Naruto, Bleach)
- When you read at least 100 chapters and realize.. "wtf am I reading?" (Hana yori Dango)
- Ecchi, Harem, and a stupid plot (Mahou Sensei Negima!)
- I don't get the hype around it (Claymore)

1. A ridiculous amount of fanservice
2. Poorly developed female characters

Manga, where the author is clearly only trying to make money rather than "putting his soul into his work". What I mean is: Overusing popular stereotypes and cliches, fanservice, use of currently hyped themes etc.
While there are manga I like and dislike, manga where I can't even find the slightest amount of creativity just make me sad. Why bother becoming a mangaka if you have no story of your own to tell?

1. fanservice, ecchi, harem
2. characters with no personality
3. overused plot that is executed poorly (sometimes an overused plot can be executed well)
4. feels like it has no sense of plot or direction
5. lame/cliche dialogue

whenever it has such an overused plot.

ex:

[insert MC name] was sealed with [insert power] when he was younger. His parents died and so his [insert relative] has taken care of him since he was young. Until one day [insert love interest] was in trouble and his power unleashed.

1. Too much fan service with little to no development in story
2. Overly stereotypical
3. Too many characters with similar personality in story
4. Harems with no real plot or overused plot
5. Taking to long to update and not well written enough for me to wait
6. Dropped and not well written enough for me to keep tabs on it just in case it gets picked up again.
7. The stories by the same creator are all really alike with only slight differences to them.

A story that ends but feels like there should be more.
A sub-standard plot or no plot
Too much extreme fetishes
Very bad art work
A story that jumps around from past, present, or future that leaves you going what happened exactly.
Dropped or the artitst went on haitus and it has been forever since anything else was produced.
Stories that a few chapters are out and then nothing for years and the character do not look the same but somewhat similar.

I was browsing some of the junk I've downloaded, and came across Koisome Momiji. Koisome Momiji is kinda 'whatever', but I had to applaud it for avoiding a particular turn-off for me.

In these types of manga where there's a girl or guy that everyone regards as unapprochably beautiful, I always notice that the extras drawn around this 'idol' are usually just as attractive.

Taking a look at Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi, certainly Natsukawa stands out, but there's nary an 'ugly' face or unshapely body to be seen, really. Yamato of Sukitte Iinayo definitely stands out too, but anytime there's a scene with a lot of extras, I notice that all the guys are an 'ideal' height and are generally good looking.

Back to Koisome Momiji, and finally we see a "beautiful" character surrounded by a pack of gawking mutants of all shapes and sizes.

*golf clap*

Well done, Miura Tadahiro.

- ugly artwork (sometimes I can endure If the story itself is real good)
- all heroes look similar and I don't know who is who
- too many characters
- Characters that refer to themselves in third person
- overly childish characters
- overuse of chibi style
- ecchi, harem, fanservice, moe, tsundere
- shotacon and lolicon
- most of the "love polygon" stuff
- cliches everywhere
- misogyny in all types of manga
- when in gender bender manga smart girl falls in love and becomes stupid, forget her goals, etc.
- well, every manga where love makes girl stupid...
- ... and often she leaves her job... and everything... to marry the guy and become a housewife
- oh, and where male love interest is a bastard (i don't give a shit about "tragic past" - in real life that's no excuse for awful behaviour!)
- good series unfinished from other reasons than the death of mangaka
- bullying treated handled in unrealistic way
- strange interpretation of catholicism (e.g. "my job is working in local church - family campany, my father is a priest and my mother is a nun...")

*Main character that blushes all the time (yes, it's cute sometimes, but only if s/he blushes because of her/his love interest)
*All the characters look the same
*Too many characters introduced in the first chapter/s
*Arrogant character/s and tsunderes
*When it takes 100++ chapters for the girl to realize her feelings
*When you are supposed to pity the main character all the time
*That annoying girl in non-romance shounen who just stands in the way
*When the male character does everything for his little sister, and the little sister herself hasn't done anything to deserve all of this
*Weak main characters with no character growth either
*When I still don't understand what's going on after 10 chapters
*Fanservice
*Main character that yells all the time
*Ugly artwork (especially if the head shapes are weird)
*Tall main character
...and a lot more

Shoujo cliche written cliche-ly(?).

Shounen with the feels of WSJ too strong.

I don't understand what's ongoing, either the translation so off, or the manga itself is confusing.

A protagonist that playing with people's feeling with no reason/for fun.

Bad artwork with good story is good.
Great artwork with bad story, hopeless.

Like, everything. XD
- Cookie-cutter character tropes without any attempt to differentiate them
- Too much cliches/tropes in general
- Main characters who are all like "oh I'm just your normal everyday 16 year old student" gaining some supernatural ability or whatnot by complete chance (or some "prophecy").
- When they rely on ecchi / fanservice to attract viewership
- When stories drag on for ages without an end in sight with countless arcs. Also when the plot is badly/illogically structured etc.
- Crybaby, weak main characters who don't reasonably develop (for example, Natsu from 7 Seeds is alright since she definitely develops, but there's far too many other characters that don't seem to)
- Mary Sue characters
- Predictable plot
- When only a one character is well-developed and other characters aren't.
- >200 chapters (some exceptions, though not much tbh)
- Dense main characters
- Pretty much main characters who don't think before they act
- Cliche "tragic backstories" which serve no purpose other than creating sympathy for a character
- Tsunderes which follow the tsundere trope exactly
- Harems in general

It's getting harder to find readable manga nowadays. bigrazz
