I don't really have a top 10 per say, so I'll just name one from each popular medium of fiction.

Manga - Ginko, the protagonist of Mushishi. He is one of very few manga characters whom I felt behaved like an actual person would in real life. And his philosophy for living is breathtakingly simple; yet kind and logical. He's not overly emotional, nor is he cold or uncaring. He respects nature and every living being; and tries to do his 'job' in such a way that it does not disturb the natural flow of life...I could go on and on about what makes him my favourite fictitious character EVER, but that's enough for now ^^

Anime - Kino from "Kino no Tabi". Unlike most female protagonists, she is not sappy, weak or obsessed with men. She takes her journeys very seriously; and has a quiet, contemplative outlook towards life that I simply adore.

Cartoons - Spongebob from "Spongebob Squarepants". Seriously, there is no other character who can make me smile so much!

Novels - Sherlock Holmes, of course. He's pretty much my idealization of what a real man should be like smile Doesn't wear his heart on his sleeves, is not irrationally obsessed with women, calm, intelligent and logical. I even like his arrogance- it's pretty much a defining trait.

Movies - No one worth mentioning. I'm not a big fan of movies anyway; I prefer anime and cartoons.

As for my favourite show as a kid - Spongebob Squarepants. This is the only comedy which actually succeeded in making me laugh laugh

It's a hard feat to name ten character you like, I'm even second guessing my list now! To tell the truth 8-10 probably don't deserve to be on the list.

10.Sakurai Tomoki - Sora no Otoshimono by Minazuki Suu - a super pervert with his moments, I love this guy for the fact he just keeps crossing the line

9.Arata Hinohara - Arata Kangatari by [a]Yuu Watase [/a]- Highly athletic, but also a very shy, quiet person. He makes me want to be his friend, I don't know why.

8.Roto - Yureka by Author Son Hee-Joon and Artist Kim Youn Kyung - A prick and a awesome gamer, funny above all else.

7.Indiana Jones - Indiana Jones series by George Lucas - An adventurer! I wanted to be him when I grew up! I wanted the scancal, hat and whip!

6.Katsuragi Keima - Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai by Wakaki Tamiki - He's an otaku and wants to stay that way, but is constantly dragged away from his galga games. He's an extreme game addict that I could become if I allowed myself.

5.Homer Simpson - The Simpsons by Matt Groening - Fat, Bald, Funny.

4.Kelsier - Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson - Just plain awesome, his life story and his present day actions.

3.Shin-woo - The Breaker by Author Jeon Geuk-jin and Artist Park Jin-Hwan - A losers who gets bullied, but grows strong almost overnight. Doesn't sound appealing, but when you see this weak teen running down the street spirit crushing fist(?) it gives me the thrills.

2.Logen Ninefingers - The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie - A character who can't escape his name as a bloody bad ass, cause he is one. Pwns everyone.

1.Kvothe - The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - Witty, insightful and never afraid to take on a challenge makes him a role model character to me.
