Hi! I am looking for a good manga to read where friendship is above anything else! I hate manga where the friends fight for a guy or a girl and break off their friendship because of it. Is it really worth that many years of friendship? I would never do that. I would tell the guy to see ya later.

I'm just looking for a manga where their friendship is really strong and they treasure it above anything else, one good example would be Tomodachi no Hanashi It doesn't have to be two girls. It can be two boys as well.

Thank you very much!

Ah I love Tomodachi no Hanashi. It's fabulous. smile

Should romance play a significant role in the story? Or are you okay with friendships between, say, teammates, adoptive family members, etc?

By the same author is Ore Monogatari!!

If you don't mind that the friendship bonds are not formed before the beginning of the series:

Life - has lots of drama but its mostly about friendship. Personally i think the romance aspect is secondary.

Orange Marmalade - Most of the friendship bits are in the beginning then the focus switches to romance

Seishun Kouryakuhon by AKIZUKI Sorata
The description makes it sound like another romance manga, but the romance is more like a subplot. It actually focuses on the everyday life of four close high school friends.
And it does make you cry - for the transience and beauty of one's youth.

By the way, I second Sakamichi no Apollon. It gives off such a nostalgic feeling.

When I read this I immediately wanted to yell out Tomodachi no Hanashi....but than I saw that you had already read it. bigrazz

A few examples of girl-girl friendship:
Hiyokoi (...kinda I guess? They are very good friends, but it's not really like Tomodachi no Hanashi)
Kimi ni Todoke (Kinda the same with Hiyokoi...)
Koi dano Ai dano (This is definitely my favorite, or at least one of my favorite shoujo manga. The MC pretty much ignores love and only worries about her friend...but before you read this you should read it's prequel Warau Kanoko-sama)

Seconding Orange Marmalade and Seishun Kouryakuhon.
