Air Gear hands down. It started out cool and all when the most badass thing they could do was something called "trick". But then elements and freakin' powers and shit got added to the story and ppl can literally take over the world with their inlines. That just ruined a great manga with awesome artwork. At least for me.

Oh and Bakuman of course. It may be the most boring shit I have ever read.

Since the big3 is always mentioned i ll give my opinion on them

Bleach- the one that's overrated the most. Compared to the other 2 it's shallow. It is only good during the epic moment when a new move is revealed or some character arrives. This is the feeling I'm getting for quite a while now. But the series is still young, so it could still get better.

Naruto- next in line. It is actually not bad, but I only get that feeling when I'm reading it for the first time. There is no part in the story that really stands out, but is only good if you look at the whole thing. Altho I do like the diff generations and how ppl actually die(not bleach where they are already dead).

One Piece- is this overrated? a bit, even tho(bcuz lols) i like it the most. Where does it lack? Nothing unless your looking for romance or ecchi scenes. But let me tell you why. Most people read OP, then drop it bcuz they get bored of the cylce: new island>new enemy>enemy harms som1>luffy gets pissed>fight>luffy wins yay. I actually didnt find that boring, since OP probably has the best humor and creativity. If you ask me the real reason why OP is so popular its bcuz OP is written/planned so that there is a lot of room to improve and expand on the story. I've got lots more to say but i know you want me to shut up. Don't read OP, then that's your loss.

Seinen - Berserk , Onani Master Kurosawa , Gantz , Otoyome Gatari , Mugen no Juunin , Emma , Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan , Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (Novel) (Why is this even seinen? It's so juvenile!) , Shin Angyo Onshi , Threads of Time , Hellsing , Kiseijuu , Hoshi no Samidare.

As for yaoi...I haven't read any so I can't judge.

... but that said I do agree with some titles you have there, not mentioning the one's everyone's been going on about (naruto etc), Kimi ni Todoke is probably a bit overrated as you say, I liked it but it gets a bit boring later on, maybe because it's a super slice-of-life manga.

Oh, and all the Vampire Knight hate 🤢 I like that manga... but I guess all the zero x yuuki stuff can get kinda creepy.

Every time I see one of these topics everyone chooses Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece.

I'm surprised nobody mentions the longest running series such as Kochikame, Golgo 13, Doraemon, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Ippo, etc. They follow a similar pattern of repetition as well but I guess they don't get the TV exposure so they tend not to get much attention.

Overrated pretty much means rated too highly, so it's more about the fans going overboard than the manga quality itself.

Bad manga can be overrated as good and great manga can be overrated as "the best of it's genre"

As for me, I think the most overrated manga are Naruto and Bleach

One Piece isn't overrated, unless you're saying its SO popular that even the great storyline can't make up for it? People just don't like One Piece because they haven't read more then 2 pages of it. 🙄

To clarify, I think he/she just meant that there are overrated smut mangas, but VK and Fruits Basket are two that aren't smut but are overrated.

Anyway, to answer the topic, I think Midnight Secretary is overrated. I very much dislike the art and the plot. I couldn't get past the first chapter though, so I guess I don't know the plot well, haha. 😛

Surprised no one mentioned Kaichou wa Maid-sama. I've always thought that was the most overrated shoujo series ever. That doesn't mean it's horrible because there are definitely worse ones out there, but I don't believe it deserves so many fans for what it offers. There's just not much...substance and all I ever hear are fangirls saying is "Usui is hot1!!1". Well Usui also happens to be an underdeveloped Gary Stu whose character has no legitimate weaknesses or dimensions. Which is why he annoyed the crap out of me (I actually generally liked Misaki until she who was supposed to be a strong heroine turned into a pile of blushing mess around him) - almost as much as Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket annoyed the crap out of me, except while I didn't like either series, I would say FB had certain elements in its storytelling that deserves some of the recognition it gets.

100% agree with this. People so obsessed with "art" that they still like Bleach and can't make it through the first few chapters of One Piece (whose art has gotten way better since chapter 1 anyway... just look at the post-timeskip spread. But that's not the point, the point is that the storyline is the greatest work that any manga has ever put forth) have no right to even talk about manga.

^I read 2 volumes of OP and didn't like. I don't think it's overrated though?
