A manga (or an anime adaption) with romance (a must!), action/fantasy action... maybe a dark theme. Manga that does not revolve around school, or manga that is not like... say, Beauty Pop, Love Monster, etc. (the extreme shoujo manga). Basically, a more mature kind of manga. (and, no, Vampire Knight is hardly my idea of one)

The type of manga I'm looking for is:
Blood Alone (<<< this was soo adorable)
Blood+ (the anime of course)
Toshokan Sensou: Spitfire! (Library War) (<<< a good example of the type of romance I like)
King of Thorns
Nabari no Ou
Berserk (I'm not a big fan of bloodshed, fighting, and Berserk's type of art... but rather, the plot, and the sheer genius of it.)
Deadman Wonderland

Something that'll make me say "Oh, wow, that was so kickass." but with adorable-ish romance. ( :

Ludwig Kakumei dark, action, romance based on various fairy tales.

ES It's fairly dark with action. It has a subplot of romance that is very cute. I love this manga.

Die No action, but it's a dark romance. Very dark.

Vampire Game (The main focus isn't shounen-ai so ignore the genre. :3)
Rave Master
Code Breaker (Perhaps romance in the future. xD)
Chrome Breaker (^ Same as above)

EDIT: Chrno Crusade (Definately~)

Not cited so far:

Shingetsutan Tsukihime -> also the anime.
Shin Angyo Onshi
Vampire Juujikai
Kurozuka

I also can suggest you the OAV Kenshin memory from the past that is far darker than the manga.

Already cited: I've to say that Chrno Crusade is imho what you're looking for.

Amatsuki

Amatasuki was pretty good, I've read that already.

Superior

Oh, I loved superior. At least the beginning of it... hopefully the manga artist doesn't lose her hold on the story.

Ludwig Kakumei
Die

Ludwig Kakumei was awesome. And so was Godchild; it's my first time hearing about Die, but it's by the same author, so I'll definitely check that out.

Rainy Days:
Vampire Game was good for a quick read. Rave Master doesn't seem my type though; I've heard about it, but then again, I'm usually skeptical about manga before reading it.
I loved Chrno Crusade. Both the anime and manga endings were sad ): But I was a HUGE fan after watching the anime for a long time. It was really great.

Reid1: Omg. So I just read Shin Angyo Onshi as you recommended, and it was epic-ly amazing. <3 I've seen the manga, and I was extremely skeptical about reading it (sorry, it was because of the headband) but I decided to give it a shot since it was suggested and I loved it. (: (the ending wasn't as strong as I expected, though) This is the type of manga I love, something that just pulls you in. Won Sul is my favorite character.

Ga-rei not really dark but has romance-action-fantasy and has school but not too much of it that its based in school.
Angel sanctuary also by Yuki Kaori has incest but is pretty much all the above and also a bit dark.
I dont like Ao no Fuuin very much but you might like it.

Hmm... dunno if it fits your description well but check it out Higschool of The Dead. It'll be more like damn, that chick kick ass haha... romance is there but not overly elaborated as the focus is more on surviving rather than love making although some of 'em did find time to do so 😛

I'm glad you like it. Also Kenshin OAVs have another good dark love story. And another one I didn't mentioned so far is "Scrapped Princess" the anime. It started as a funny fantasy comedy, but it gets pretty dark in the middle of story.

Definitely Ludwig Kakumei. Absolutely awesome!
Or Midnight Secretary. A bit of smut at times, but it's pretty good.
