I want to read/watch a good romance where both protagonists realize their feelings for each other but the boy isn't oblivious to it, and he actually puts effort into getting the girl. I don't want the plot to only revolve around the main couple; meaning not every chapter/episode has to be about them, I'd like for the plot to be about their friends and family as well. I'd enjoy it even more if there was some sort of breakup in the middle of the series, or an obstacle that almost causes one, but they still end up together.

Something like Kare Kano, Mars, and Bokura ga Ita, maybe even Marmalade Boy.

Sorry if that's a lot, doesn't have to meet all requirements though.^-^

Have you tried I.S and Complex?
Complex is categorised as Yaoi/shounen ai but the story's AWESOEMMmmm T^T

Boy Princess

  • historical story w/ several relationships going on (some major, some minor)
  • both shoujo and shounen-ai pairings

Ah! Luna! Try reading Princess, if you havent read it!
I.S is a very good and emotional manga, you'll love it!

I second Can't lose you..although it's a little dramatic for my taste.

Try Sand Chronicles too. It has everything you've mentioned.
