Add me to the "always tired".
My iron levels are generally barely too low to donate blood, but not anemic. My blood pressure is on the low side of normal, but not low enough that any doctor has ever been concerned. I sleep generally 6-8 hours per night, exercise every day, eat fairly healthy food (most of the time ), not on any medications, and yet I'm constantly tired. It sucks.
Doubt it's sleep apnea since other people have been around when I'm sleeping & they haven't noticed any snoring/snorting/pauses & gasps, and going to the doctor for something like this is pretty much a waste of money.

Actually.. if you think you may have it~ definitely not.. it can lead to cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, weight gain and obesity.. and you could all together stop breathing once. I can't say that's a waste of money~

I'm weird when it comes to being tired. I can sleep 6 hours and be energetic then sleep 9-10 hours and be tired and vice versa. Guess it's mostly oversleeping and not sleeping enough over long periods of time.

Sure, *IF* you think there's a good chance you have sleep apnea, it's worth going in.
But if you're pretty sure you don't, and are just tired all the time, then it's a waste of money - considering that I'm likely to be told something like, "oh, well, you're a single mom, you're probably just stressed out," and then they charge you $120 for an office visit.

I'd say I'm only tired at the inappropriate times, like school or while not doing anything. Otherwise I feel tired whenever I get a lot sleep, and energetic whenever I pull consecutive all-nighters. Sleeping takes up too much time out of your day I'd say.

Sleep patterns is an important factor in whether you feel tired or not. If you're constantly sleeping at different times or for different amounts of time, you are more likely to feel like you are unrested even though you get enough sleep. A regular sleep pattern is the most efficient.
Also, exercise is something that can make you feel more energetic. Things like cardio workouts and stuff are good. They get your adrenaline running and allows your blood to pump too all the parts of your body, delivering oxygen and nutrition to things like your brain. That allows you to not feel like you're dying.
Eating appropriately is also an important factor. What you eat, the amount you eat, and how often you intake all contribute to how much energy you have. A balanced diet will allow the maximum amount of nutrition to be absorbed, with a minimum amount of waste. This means more energy produced, less energy wasted on converting things to fat.
Oh, and water. Lack of water can make you feel tired too. Water helps with absorbing nutrition in the body, keeps the kidney's clean so the liver doesn't have to do the kidney's work and can instead convert fat into energy. Then you have more energy, less fat and win =)

lol im one of the few that are tired at the appropriate times, i agree with cheesestix and i also think that another reason ppl who are always tired have that problem cuz of either (a) to much work or (b) which applies to students is tooooo much friging homework.

I'm pretty much NOT everything you just mentioned. No regular sleeping pattern: my job in retail will do anything and everything to prevent me from being able to set a sleeping schedule unless I woke up at 5am every morning including the days I don't get home until midnight or midnight-thirty.
I get a lot of exercise at work (walking, climbing ladders, lifting heavy boxes, more walking, not snapping at stupid customers) but I don't exercise much outside of work.
Food... I eat what's convienent. Usually, a bagel and coffee for breakfast, leftovers from the night before for lunch and crap-food for dinner.
And I know I don't drink enough water, unless I'm at home with a glass sitting right next to me. Then I must refill as soon as it empties. Otherwise, no water for the Nona unless she's dying of thirst.
I do know that there are things I can do to improve my sleepy state, but it seems that even when I'm trying I'm too tired to continue trying.
@TofuQueen: I agree that it's not important enough to go to the doctor for. Too freaking expensive and she'll just tell me what cheesestix already said.

I feel tired the majority of the time, but I can never fall asleep during the night. I'll just lie there for hours until I drift off. I've been like that for a long time. Tried to stick to schedules/exercise/etc., but life likes to get in the way... and the whole thing where I lie there never changed.

I wake up and feel tired, but no matter how tired, I don't take naps nor drink coffee. I'm somewhat tired even now at 5PM, but I'm winging it.

yeah, whenever, I'm tired. Always in biology class, and always in some other places. But when I'm not tired, I'm clearly not.

does this happen more often in the winter and do you experience any of the following symtoms
* Depressed mood (or alternatively can be irritable mood in children and adolescents).
* Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities.
* Significant weight loss when not dieting or weight gain or decrease or increase in appetite.
* Insomnia or hypersomnia.
* Psychomotor agitation or retardation.
* Fatigue or loss of energy.
* Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt.
* Diminished ability to think or concentrate, or indecisiveness.
* Recurrent thoughts of death (not just fear of dying), recurrent suicidal ideation without a specific plan, or a suicide attempt or a specific plan for committing suicide.
then you probebly have Seasonal affective disfunction
