I hunger for a different kind of yaoi, in which there is action, fighting, sports, something! At least a subplot, if not the focus. With the girly uke thing in moderation if not totally nonexistant, please. That would make me smile!

It's hard being both an extreme shounen and BL fan, shounen is fine but BL really disappoints me most of the time, the lack of anything boyish when there are so many boys kills me. Girls leads in shoujo are manlier than BL boys these days.... ;o;

Can't help you much with the action part, but there are some more boyish ones. Have you tried FAKE?
Yellow isn't bad either...it has a pretty good plot. It's hard to think of anything with a lot of action in it though...
If there is such thing, I'd also like to hear about it. I'm really sick of seeing characters that look and act like girls.

A lot of stuff by Takaguchi Satosumi fits. It's high on melodrama, but has real plots and few wimpy characters. (Especially Kruez).

There's also an OEL called off beat that's probably what you're after (mostly plot with a touch of romance between two basically regular high school boys).

Maybe viewfinder? And I second Crimson Spell.

Well there isn't any action but anything by Miyamoto Kano?

Or how about Abe Miyuki's stuff.
Tennen + Gokuraku Mahoutsukai and the other stuff by the same mangaka
Kusatta
Under grand hotel
Little butterfly
The cornered mouse dreams of cheese

Sakura Haiji
Tsukiya or anything else by that mangaka
Kujou Aoi
Duo brand
Mizukami Shin(Well except for Aigan Shounen where you should read the warnings on this site)

Tsukigasa
Hand which

Tight plot, interesting characters with action or some kinda exciting thing going on:

Ice eagle fire hawk
The 4th Guard - Single Mind
Border

Pure crack:

Oku-san's Daily Fantasies shrugs It's drawn by a guy and there isn't much of a plot but it's damn funny.

Sorry my brains aren't alive atm... or I'd have more recs.

😃
I know what you mean!

Try Youka Nitta if you're into male models and fashion... Haru wo Daiteita and Boku no Koe.
Miyamoto Kano if you love angst but gorgeous bishounen. No girly ukes in there! Not even a chibi in sight! Rules, Amayakana Toge, Hydra, Walker etc. All good.
Suzuki Tsuta if you love salarymen. Work In and Hand Which
Naono Bohra if you like em super muscly. Itsuka no Himitsu.
Honjou Rie does gorgeous man X man couples too... Try Kimi to Iru Asu and In the Chemistry Lab.
Hidaka Shouko's Signal has mature men X mature men.
Fujiyama Hyouta's guys are all muscly.....Hitomi no Ounowa, Junjou....

phew 🙄 Getting hot in here!

How about Hero Heel? It's about guys filming for a tokusatsu series - hence the action part.

I see Yellow has been mentioned already.

And try Fujiyama Hyouta's works. The boys do look like boys.

I'll browse through my lists and see if there's more I can recommend.

Hmmm... some of the recs here really look interesting.

Btw, I don't think that most BL is disappointing or that all BL is stereotypical: ultra-girly males(well, according to one's cultural and other perceptions of a "masculine male"). It's just that you need to get past the squealing masses of fan girls and bois and find the serious stuff that people have scanlated/published.

Also, something I find handy when looking for manga(volume or series) is to find something which doesn't just have 9s to 10s but also 5s to 6s or even 1s, in terms of ratings. I'm likely contradicting myself but I think there're a lot of people who rate a BL poorly 'cos they only want stuff with smut/sex or 'cos they're "non-BL" readers who stumbled upon BL by mistake and hated it. Of course, this doesn't take into account any other factors for the low ratings like poor plot, over-dosage of drama, etc.

Here're more(It's time to go wild... wheee!!!):
The secret agreement
Concrete garden
Dogla+Magla
Chrysalis : definitely no youngish-looking guys here.
Les Sciences et les Fantaisie is rather intelligent.

Literally almost or all of the BL stuff by Kunieda Saika. Some of her boys can be a bit drama-queeny but she's good at emotions and stories.

35 Do no Ren'ai Netsu

Practically anything and everything by Honma Akira.

Stigma I(The only manga by the author I liked. You can try her other works, though.)
Ike Reibun, perhaps? I kinda liked Spoon but it might not be to your taste.

Wild Fangs and its' sequel: Wild Rose
Nagaraja

Open Air

Overdose, Cut and just about everything by Kawai Touko

Toritsu Mahou Gakuen Yeah the uke is really girlish but the manga is actually kinda fun, if you're not looking purely for smut or sex.

Buddy System
Sangen Tonari no Tooi Hito

Prince of Monster

Zankoku Yuugi
Work In
Antique Bakery

Otona no Mondai Well, it's more like Josei and not exactly 100% sex but try it, it's fun.

And wait, why has no one mentioned YAMADA Yugi? Yume wo Miru Hima mo Nai was especially good. And so was Ore wa Warukunai.

Though most of YAMATO Nase's earlier stuff was more on the "simple, cute and fun" side, some of her latest stuff looks promising provided she tread properly. Of course, I could be off.

i hate the girly ukes so all yaois that i know, have no girly uke 🙂 .
if you want one with sports, Omoi to Jikan http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=6539 i found good, both guys are boxers (so it has fighting as well), it is scanlated by Nakama.

I find Yugi Yamada's works are good, Love mode by Yuki Shimizu, Mata Ashita http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=5447 by Machiya Hatoko is splendid 😀

edit:
i love realistic yaois (where the story is realistic to actual homosexual couples... so yeah) I wish i could actually give you the links on where to get them (like download them >.>... but i think that is against the rules here... i did that once on another place and yeah... 🤢 )
