Well, it's come up fairly often on forum, but i think it's more easy to make more specific request.

Problem is - after reading hundreds of titles i become tired with weak protagonists and half-baked romances. I want something more real - like in Beck, or Otoyomegatari, or Breaker, or even Wolf Guy.

In other words - series where romance is not a main purpose of seres existance in first place, but where romance still plays important role.

Hope i was clear smile

Try -
Cheese in the Trap
Sekine-kun no Koi
Mars
Nodame Cantabile
Hoshi no Koe
Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan
Kieli
Can't See Can't Hear But Love
Chang Ge Xing

They all fit the criteria perfectly and are equally wonderful ^^

Don't degrade manga. You will find some pretty deep topics, including romance, explored in some. Your loss if you haven't read them yet..

Could you make some of your lists public so we can see what you've read already? There aren't a ton of realistic romances so I feel like I'd recommend something you've read before

That's exactly the problem I'm having with romance mangas, they love for the sake of loving.

That said, here's a few:
Jotei
Akagami no Shirayukihime
Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang
Nana
Hoshi no Samidare (can't really remember...)
Orange (TAKANO Ichigo) (again... memory blurry)

Pretty random, I just picked the ones I saw first on my list that fits. I'm sure there's more better ones. On that note, I haven't read any of your examples other than Otoyomegatari, so I'm picking based on the impression of a good enough background to the romance part, and a plot going on.
