Anyways, recommendations!

The connection is even stronger than of friendship 🙂 I guess...
My last suggestion of TMD is based on it (though kinda onesided).

Lol, seeing at the manga that gets posted here, then EVERYTHING contains subtext. In my opinion, this is just wishful thinking, but whatever. =__=;;
Best friendships =/= homoerotic relationships.
QFT.
Yeah, I like yaoi, but I still think this way too.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.
From a bumper sticker I like:
"If you're gonna ride my ass, at least pull my hair."

Well, I also don't think that all super-close friendships (or enmities! - lol, stubborn blob! - let's not forget the Foe Yay!) in RL are actually homoerotic. But in fiction? Such as TV/manga/books? I find it extremely entertaining to play spot-the-homoeroticism. 😳 It's like... I don't know, kind of like a drinking game, but with squee instead of alcohol. 😀 But that's just a crazed fujoshi talking. 🤣
Right, back to the recommendations!

Litchi Hikari Club. I wonder why tags don't say anything. There's even a bit of yaoi.

I just realized, how in the world has Mirage of Blaze not come up? Okay, to be honest, I don't know about the manga or the novels (and let's face it, the novel series is 40 volumes long, if they don't manage to get anywhere by the end I would be stunned), but the anime fits this to a T. There's nothing quite like a 400-year-long unrequited love. <3

Nah, Fudanshism doesn't have much gay subtext. It's just an ecchi-ish series about a little boy coping in the yaoi doujinshi scene...
You know, thinking about it, I can't really suggest much here because I see EVERYTHING as gay subtext. But let's see:
Cipher, between the two twins.
Shimotsuma Monogatari, between Ichigo and Momoko.
Ouran High School Host Club, between the twins, Honey and Mori, Tamaki and Kyouya, and Kasanoda and his girly servant boy thing.
A lot of cuteness in Kimi to Boku.
A bit in Fujoshi Rumi and Fujoshi Kanojo, too, between the guys that each fujoshi is shipping.
I wish I had more suggestions... but this thread is too awesome. 🤣

Oh, don't worry. They did 😀
that's just readers have to wait until volume 20 (of the novel) for the smex scene 😁

pretty much ever story ever has some SSR subtext at one point or another, you just have to be intelligent enough to read into the story, themes and characters.

Forgot to add that the following series have subtext, too:
Hokusou Shinsengumi: Yeah. Pretty Shinsengumi story by the mangaka of Otomen. Subtext, whut? 😀
Taimashin: A creepily androgynous acupuncturist, Dr. Taima (vaguely reminiscent of Greil from Kuroshitsuji, which is even more wildly subtextual), teams up with another supernatural needle wielder (also male). NEEDLE WIELDER. Phallic symbolism, anyone? Taima is obviously ghey, because despite having a fabulously sexy female assistant, he has more chemistry with gruff men, whom he flirts with indiscriminately, and one of whom actually calls him a natural Casanova. Would a man normally blush while saying that to another man? I ask you. It's also LOLarious when Taima travels to the U.S.A. and gets hit on by American guys, to the point where he has to threaten them with violence to get them to leave him alone. 😛
Ultra Panic: Officially BL, only raws so far. By the same mangaka as Taimashin (above). Someone scanlate this, plz!
Wolf's Sanctuary: Shinsengumi manga with a REALLY pretty Hijikata. I mean, like. Really. Usually Okita's the pretty one... Subtext almost non-existent in the first chapter (scanlated), but grows with time in the raws. Plenty of subtexty eye-candy, anyway; I can't read a word of Japanese.
Luo Xue Cheng Bai: Again, officially BL but very light. Very pretty first chapter; looking forward to more.
EDIT: Aaaand... Kugutsu, which has subtext between practically any two male characters - all of whom are beautifully illustrated, esp. Dr. Wei.

Would you mean yuri subtext? Because if so, you're absolutely right - thanks to you, I checked out this manga just now and... whoa. Yes. Lesbian subtext all over the place! 😀
EDIT: I've got some to add to the list!
Baroque: Subtexty male angels.
Zion: Really fascinating plot; pretty art; subtext between friends.
Nazca: Master/student subtext of the martial arts variety, that quickly turns into Foe Yay. Has an anime version, too!
Atsumare seems to be heading towards intense subtextiness, as does Yakumo Tatsu, the latter even more so. Bushido Sixteen has just begun but is already providing hints of yuri subtext. <3
Is it just me, or is Livingstone kind of subtexty?

And every male sports manga has a subtext. Just look at the yaoi doujinshis. 🤣 Loads of Eyeshield 21 yaoi doujinshis around. O_O

Totally agree with that, base_coat. 🤣 Oofuri, PoT, Eyeshield, even Hikaru no Go which isn't really sporty... Basically, "Rivalry" + "Guys" = "Subtext". Lol!
