do you mean rpg as computer games or as pen&paper?
As games: Neverwinter Night
As tabletops: Shadowrun (4.01D), DSA, Warhammer 40k
I think that a pen&paper adventure is a hell more fun than a linear rpg.
It requires much more imagination and initiative. And with a good master (game-leader(?)), any usual rescue-the-princess-mission can be fun.

Yes, I'm a huge a fan of RPGs but only as far as video games goes.
Not even interested by the pen and paper stuff... it reminds me to much of the time when I was playing house with my friends in kindergarten... (feels to ridiculous seriously IMO). But everybody is free to enjoy what they want.

The majority of my games are RPGs, with a smattering of shooters and fighters and action games here and there. More often then not when browsing for more games I tend to took for RPGs over anthing else, which I guess is why I got more out of my PS2 then my Xbox or gamecube.
@Shono
I agree, with a good group pen and paper rpgs are alot more engaging then a linear video game. But the problem is I think the majority of gamers tend to look for fashy graphics and catchy soundtracks, kind of a shame really.

i just get bored with the general button smashing or twitch shooting for other genres, so i stick with RPGs mainly now. As long as the story makes sense and the character relationships develop, i could care less about the graphics if it's not super shiny or ultra smooth characters.
The linear games aren't too bad I think, it does make things less challenging but easier as well.
I'm more of a J-RPG person myself, just my preference over the dark and gloomy feel of north american RPGs.

.
.
Both, pretty much everything that falls under RPG style gameplay, whether traditional turn-based or character building, or etc. Not simulations like Black & White though, those fall more under strategy-sims.

well, I've only played Symphonia, Phantasia, Abyss, and Legendia (in that order) and I really like them. I'm really looking forward to the next tales game they come up with. Although I do hope the art style is more similar to that of symphonia and abyss than legendia for the future tales games, but meh, it's fine either way.
i would play tempest if i understood it or can locate a walkthrough/translation somewhere...oh well...

I play all kinds of games but if you're talking about a favorite genre, RPGs have been my most loved for a long time. It's been a little sad for me, though, since RPGs haven't captivated me since the SNES/PS1 days. There are still RPGs I want to play and even own but I just haven't gotten to most of them.
I usually play a multiplayer FPS game (CoD4, TF2) or find something else to do though.

I mainly play shooters since I don't have much time to play RPG's, life seems to get in the way. Recently I got my hands on Rainbow six vegas, and splintercell double agent.

I'm 49% rpg gamer 49% tactics gamer 2 % other ^^; I usualy just play rpg games for their story and usualy don't do side quest thingies Tactic games however i play mainly for their system love being able to control and customize many characters at once. Other I would say are very good games from other genres with good story like the MGS series or indy games like ICO,Jet Set tho there's so few of them =(.
