One of the best manga I've ever read. Writing this after reading Ayu, Reina, Pao and Host mangas.
It's not yet another story were loser becomes hero. Seeing crumbling world with no hope in the end is so refreshing. But unlike Bokurano (the best tragedy for me) this has low start and rushed pace. I mean Ayu is a prostitute, there is no much height for her to fall down. And once down-hill-rolling starts too many bad events happen at the same time which doesn't add to tragedy.
I wish there were more manga like Deep Love or Bokurano. But for now i'm happy with this.

I remember reading all of those Deep Loves back in the day. I was deeply touched and it was the first time I had a taste of the so-called "josei" genre. I thought it was a masterpiece and that it had widened my view of the world. However, few days earlier, I suddenly had a flashes of the series in my mind. But now, after all those years, I realised everything Deep Loves represented were sadness and dead ends of humanity. Beings fought but they were forever hopeless only be released by their own tragical deaths. And I realised, I don't like it. I don't like those negativities channeled by the author. Sure, each of us has that tragedy but as long as we don't give up and don't stop believe, we change bit by bit each everyday to whole a better person even if we ain't rich or ain't famous, today is another day.
So in the end, even though Deep Loves got me down every time I touched it, now, not anymore.

This manga is packed with tragedy. So if you can't take multiple tragedies at once, this is not for you.
I knew this already before reading, but anyways i still cried my eyes out. The author is good at getting emotion out of her readers.

I'm a bit grossed out by this series. I really can't believe that people would sell their body like that. If this really happens in real life, then I must be in a really dream world. Anyway, very touching and reminding me about the corruption of the other side.

The author was successful in painting an extremely desolate, despondent story but it seemed like I got a lot more shock value out of it than anything else. It was a bit extreme painting the world as such a merciless place - yes I understand that there were characters there who were supposed to be the 'beacon of hope' and all but even they died. I just thought that the author depicted it as overly inhuman (or perhaps I'm just being overly naive) and it just didn't seem realistic to me.
So although I am not a fan of the exaggerated story line, I have to admit that the author certainly has a way with arousing emotions within others (one of the only reason's I kept reading this) and naturally has a unique and captivating art style.

it was so sad but i could bring myself to cry.. because it felt like the super sadness just made me angry at the world.. too bad.. too bad..
but seriously!!!
anyway. i think that that would only be a small matter since the story is really deep.. and so much more than that but too bad it didnt seem to impact me as much as it had impacted all the other people here.. but heck its still a good story!!
but seriously!!!
Spoiler (highlight to view)
why did she have to die on the exact day that she noticed that she has aids?? it was so uber fast! i was like what the hell?!

At first, im not interested on this series... not until I've seen many good reviews about this manga.
Im really surprised that this manga show raw and true human feelings: from the characters to the story itself.
I've gonna say that the story is really good (although some of the events happened are quite unrealistic) and showed hope but the characters doesn't much portray it, just a little bit of it.
If you're into manga with such drama, you need to read this but be cautious.
You need to be open-minded when reading this series.

Truly tragic story, i love the mangaka's art work and the story is definitely telling us something. And there are many teens out there that are involved in selling their bodies for money. Life isnt just tragic but we much look on the bright side as well. The second story about Yoshiyuki is definitely a change as he did move on and look forward to life again. I do recommend it to anyone cause this manga is about life and a lesson worth a read.
very well done
