The mangaka was IMO running short of ideas at the beginning so he made up pieces and bits that didn't really contribute to the whole story, or character development in other words, fillers). He did focus on neither character development nor the building up of a solid foundation for the story during a good portion of the manga. That's why after 11 volumes, a whole lot of loose ends were still not tied up. There were quite a number of interesting characters but they just fell off the pages as the story went on. In the end, it was just all about the main characters. Even so, the ending was not satisfying like others said.
The only selling point is the light-hearted tone that remained throughout the story and the concept of life and death that shone at sadly several short moments only.

An enjoyable read with a rather slow start...

Happy World is a manga that honestly I would have liked to see continue on even after it finishes the problem I have with it is more then half of the first part of the series is pretty much standard ecchi/comedy of the genre. It's not that I don't enjoy those things I do but when you get to the latter parts of the story the first half just seems a bit like filler in comparison. Despite my slight bashing I did enjoy the series and do recommend it if you enjoy the genre but I have to say the second half kicks the first half's ass without trying.

Personally i enjoy the usual ecchi but im a rather relgious person. I know my stuff quite well and because of that i couldnt get into the manga since it viloated everyway of how an angel acts. After 11 chapters i just couldnt force myself to continue reading. Also i really hated the main character thats just me though. I laughed once but i seen the humor comming 2 miles away.
A good read

Overall a very good story. A real plot doesn't develop for quite awhile. Most of the beginning to middle volumes are used for character development, with a lot of ecchi humor mixed in. There are a lot of positive messages in the story, along with an ending that should leave most people feeling good. I'll admit I was hoping for a bit more romance in the story to have helped the early volumes be less episodic and flow more, but the beginning is still enjoyable, and I think you'll find it was worth reading through them once you get to the main plot.

awesome series. has some ups and downs, i love the style of art, and the ending felt so complete to me, unlike a few series i've read where it felt too short or cut off (666 satan, pretty face, MxO, Double Arts, etc.)

Wow, just wow... As with most of everyone else who read this, I stuck on to the whole romantic comedy stuff because that is my favorite genre. But then it got deeper, more action-packed, and had numerous (and I mean an OBSCENE amount) of plot twists and character development. It also had an ending that gave me a lot of closure, kind of like how the end of Love Hina felt. Anyway read it if you really want to read something good and don't read it if you hate stuff like ecchi, fighting, romance, angels, demons, surprising plot-twists, Awesomeness, Chuck Norris, puppies, etc...
Yeah just read it.
Yeah just read it.
Excellent "Seinen" Series.

Its either,
1. "Despite the slow start and early art style, this manga redeems itself later with an in depth plot, great characters/art and a satisfying end."
2. "Readn n thinkn r hard, y caint this b moar liek Naruto w tits? ***omg sasuke is sooooo kawaiiiii!!!!11111111***"

I'm dead serious. It was fantastic. People who say it has no plot or storyline simply do not comprehend the plot or storyline itself, and people who call it "lame" do not comprehend the actual meaning behind that storyline.
Basically, this manga starts out being pure comedy/ecchi, and then turns into a more serious fighting manga. The ending of the manga is amazing, giving you a warm fuzzy feeling on the inside, especially if you read the epilogue.
If you aren't sensitive about boobies and would love a good laugh mixed in with some serious messages later on in the manga, then you should DEFINITLY read Happy World.

I picked this title up a few days after pew pew's releases were showing up in my RSS reader on a daily basis. I'd seen the anime OVA (thoroughly disappointing, though it doesn't fail to deliver when it comes to ecchi) but was still willing to give this a try (the OVA does leave you with the feeling that it could have made a good full series - it develops characters and setting to the point where it's beginning to get interesting, and the stops very abruptly).
The first few volumes are a bit slow, but if you enjoy fanservice and fun characters, you won't find yourself bored as you read through them. Progressing through the chapters, I found the story moving from funny/fun, to good, to great, to significant. I ended up tearing through the last few volumes in one sitting (couldn't stop!), and then found myself eagerly awaiting pew pew's daily chapter releases, all the way to the end.
What begins as a stereotypical ecchi/harem manga transforms into an amazing, complex story that explores human nature, the tragedies of war, love, friendship, the definition of "family", religion, and even touches on the question of the existence of God -- and it's all done with well-developed characters (remember those "slow" early volumes) and without feeling out of place or forced. And as if the plot turning serious wasn't enough, the latter volumes are also filled with great fighting/action sequences that really tie everything together with suspense and a sense of urgency that made me unable to stop reading until there were no more chapters available.
This title does contain plenty of (tasteful though unecessary) nudity and sexual dialog throughout, especially in the first few volumes. Though for the latter volumes, the sexual dialog is gone, and the nudity (still there in full force) honestly didn't feel "out of place" or at all like fanservice anymore.
This is an excellent title that I'd recommend to anyone looking for an epic and thoughtful story, that's willing to slog through the first few slow-paced, ecchi/harem volumes.
Also, be prepared: If you're an emotional person, you'll probably find yourself crying at the happy ending - Happy World! is a well-deserved title.
