Aya Takano is one of the leading figures of the postmodern art movement Superflat. Her colorful prints are what she's best known for, but this little crudely-drawn science fiction story is more expressive than any of those stylish but vapid pieces. Her prints show an obsession with the nude prepubescent female, and her art style here doesn't stray too far from that, but none of these characters are at all immature. They're fully-developed adults in everything other than their bodies and completely realistic in everything other than their art style. This is a must-read for any fan of art subcultures or just good surrealist sci-fi.
