The review below mine is a liar!

I read their review and instantly thought, oh I love a good shoujo mature leads. I just spent today reading up to the latest chapter and boy, it was not what I expected. It's good for what it is, and what it is, is a Romeo-Juliet story told in modern day format.

The female lead can be very angsty for semi-good reasons you could say, humans for the most part hate vampires and she's insecure about being being found out. She's honestly run away from so many situations you'd think this was one of the more generic shoujos just from the sheer amount of times she says 'IM SORRY' *cue tragic music* and runs. But, you'd be half-wrong, the characters are intriguing and the author is very good at cute comedy, making all the characters have their own adorable moments.

The background art is INCREDIBLE, definitely eyecandy almost every page. Though the character themselves seem to be lacking every now and then but it's easily made up by the wonderful environments that are drawn. So once again, it's a decent manga but it's definitely very shoujo. Keep that in mind when you pick it up.

Character driven

If you're tired of frustratingly annoying heroines and instead looking for a refreshing girl that deals with love, angst and growth in a smart but realistic manner, then this manga is for you. The great art and supernatural elements are an added bonus, but this manga is driven by the main character, who is among the most charming and unique manga characters that I've seen until now. Definitely recommended.

Normally I can't stand shoujo manga. The so-called heroine often lacks self-respect and is dense, weak and annoying. I'm no feminist, but where's your dignity girls!? Orange Marmalade is a sigh of relief. The main character may be confused and lonely, but she's no fool. I even found myself thinking, "I wish I could be friends with her."

While this manhwa is about vampires, don't expect something Twilight-esque. In my opinion, it transcends your typical vampire plot with its depth and unique perspective. It shows the pain and angst that prejudice can cause.

Also, the artwork is beyond words! Orange Marmalade is the most beautiful manga/manhwa I've ever read. It's all in color, so even if you don't find the plot interesting, it's worth reading for the art alone.

It's a really cute webtoon about a vampire girl trying to hide her vampire side and the tough obstacles she has to overcome like school, friends, family, boys and blood. It's slow but it's cute.

But when Soo Ri shouted at the students for saying bad things about vampires I was little annoyed because she's being little hypocritical even if she was joking at that time :P

I feel so refreshed after reading this manga and I'm not sure why. I find both characters attractive. And I know it's fictional but I can't help but feel that it is realistic (or more realistic than typical manga/webtoons). I'm currently up to c60--the latest scanlated chapter, however, due to my excitement, I even read the raw of c61 from naver.com itself xD. I only do this with series I REALLY liked.

Emm It might be good to others and I may give it another chance but just what like 12 chapters in
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
and she's getting friends.. And she's not actually indifferent if she actually enjoys it, people are not like that. They are not like "Oh she's an outcast and a loner so yeah I'm totally gonna be her friend" "Because I just love being friends with people who don't fit in." :) Well.. actually she is not a total outcast, she is plain and mostly normal.. so yeah i'll get it credit where credits due. So because of that perhaps they may treat her fine. HOWEVER you have to put EFFORT. EFFORT. People don't just come up to you and want to be your friend... /end rant
I'm sorry I'm just so sick of stories like this.. Idk maybe it gets better. Maybe I'm totally and completely wrong. I just want a realistic story on this sort of topic and i feel like when Romance is mixed in I never get that. So anyway. The art is nice. The male is ok. But due to bias and certain circumstances of mine. I cannot look over that one major fact. Maybe in the future I will be different and I will be able to read this story.

Beautiful, unlike anything I've read

Now here's a refreshing take on the vampire romance genre. I disagree with comments saying that this drags on. It is lengthy, but it never really gets boring. I feel that it actually needs the slow pace for the character development and room for the female lead, Ma Ri, to come to terms with her feelings. She's got a lot to sort out after all. And by Chapter 57, it's all the more satisfying and special when she does. I'd liken it to a butterfly emerging out of cocoon. With a story like this, I would be extremely pissed if she declared her love to Jae Min and they kissed and walked off into the sunset. And then I'd soon forget about it after that, because then it would be like every other romance story.

In short, if you were to summarize what goes on between chapters 1 to 57 in a clinical way, then no - there is "no progress". However, with every panel there IS progression in feeling, just as there would be in (a slightly more heightened version of) a real life romance... if you were a teenage vampire girl, that is.

I must point out that there is a great sensitivity with color and mood. This is the best part of it. Every panel is rich, and there were a few moments that took my breath away. The way the artist paces the story makes you feel as if you're living in this world rather than looking in on it. Oh, the guy is extremely cute too, so maybe I'm a bit biased. wink

I would say that the only negative thing about this manga is that it's a bit depressing, and maybe a bit *too* subtle in parts. All in all, I can tell that the mangaka put a lot of time into this, and I loved every moment of it. Most of the characters may feel cliche, but they also feel special in a way, and none of them are one dimensional. I read it all in one night without sleeping (and during finals week), and I don't regret it at all. Still constantly refreshing the page to check if there's a new chapter yet. Don't skip this one!
