To much death and not enough story

I understand that he was pursued and that it was about evil and goodness finding a balance ... I mean, duh... but the characters should have been more developed. They lacked the personality to carry a person through to the end. The art was dark and full of lone lines which I can appreciate because it's different from most manga's but I was disappointed.

I first read the first two chapters of this manga and I was totally captivated, but I couldn't find the rest. After a three whole years of searching I could only find two volumes. I want to read the rest too! I love the art and the story. But I'm a little afraid of the ending. I hope I can read more mangas drawn by Hakase Mizuki.

Good, but not great

It may be that I'm not a big Shoujo person, but the elongated, borderline CLAMP-ish style rubbed me the wrong way. Kind of ironic since I like many odd art styles such as Go Nagai and Hirohiko Araki. But anyways, the storyline isn't all it was hyped up to be. You had the girl-meets-boy plot, the backstories of said girl and boy, the pansexual Orthello, the royal disputes, etc.. It was done well, but no timeless classic here. Short, so if you want something to kill time this is good.

It was an ok series. I didn't get as attatched to the characters as I am in Demon Flowers (& I'm only up to volume 3) so I didn't get as depressed xP Though reading the ending again I feel sadder ><

Spoiler (highlight to view)
& alsofor those asking for a sequel.... why? Sure, we don't know what happe with God, the 'Savior', the rebellion in the capital of Hell, but The Demon Ororon is a love story. & Ororon is dead. I can't see any sequel... working.

if there was ever a manga i was obsessed with...

i only really picked it up cause it had angels and demons in the summery. i thought Chiaki was guy at first, like from the front cover picture, but then...i was wrong.
i didn't mind the art, in fact i love it cause you can almost spot it a mile away, like with the art in FAKE. and it's a really beautiful style i think.
the characters really worked well, i always liked it when Shiro and Lika were there because 9/10 they were arguing.
the story pace was great, the story was brilliant in general, just the ending, i was a bit upset at but it kinda worked... T_T (why Shiro? Why him)

overall my favouritest manga ever. i never tire of it.

Simply Amazing

Ok so the art makes the limbs way too long in proportion to the body but that didn't really bother me. The story though was simply amazing, after reading the first volume online I rushed to buy this manga to see what happened next. The story was not dragged out but still what started off as a simple boy meets girl quickly spiralled into a story which was a intriguing, beautiful, violent and tragic as Romeo and Juliet.

This manga really tugged at my heartstrings despite the fact I'm not an emotional person and after finishing I rushed to re-read it. Every time I do I pick up on somethig I had previously missed and appreciate it even more. Th ending was simply stunning and absolutely perfect to fit the mood of the story and at exactly the right time to keep the manga a love story rather than being lost in it's complicated background plot. I know a lot of fans want a sequel and as much as I hated it to end I think this story should be left untouched and without a sequel. Maybe a spin-off if done correctly but standing alone the story just works for me. I'd hate a sequel to ruin it.

One of my all time favourite manga.

In truth, I first picked it up because I was bored, and it was a manga. I skimmed through it at first, feeling REALLY repelled by the art.

Although it's "grown"(as Pomegranate said) on me since then, I still feel it's not really "beautiful".

But somehow, it was just right for this story. All the blood, the love, the feelings; everything was completely THERE.

{SPOILER ALERT}

Spoiler (highlight to view)
When Chiaki cried, I really felt her emotions coming right off the page. When Ororon's guts were pulled out, I felt every bit of Chiaki's terror for him.

And when he died, Chiaki's words really touched me. Even now, I still remember parts of her little soliloquys. "Petals of a broken soul falling all around me."

And the way she describes Ororon at the end is simply heartbreaking. In it's own way, The Demon Ororon is no less touching than other contemporary tragedies(ie. The Notebook, Romeo and Juliet).

All in all, this manga was lovely, and suprisingly enough, this manga has become one of my favorite manga, and one of my most unforgettable manga moments.

So check it out, if you can look behind the art to see the bigger picture[yeah, really lame ending note, but it works:]

At first, the drawings repelled me, but they started to grow on me during the second volume.
The ending is beautiful and one of the best I've ever read.

It is kinda confusing at points..
[Edit:] After almost 3 more years of reading manga, I can honestly say this is my favourite manga of all time. Hands down. Nothing can ever replace something like this in my heart and I feel that I am always searching genres like "demons" "tragedy" and "angels" to find anything that can come close to piece of work. To those who are waiting for scanlations of this; don't. It's honestly worth buying it. I got the complete omnibus for $25 and I treasure it more than all 23 volumes of fruits basket. If you don't like it you can always return it or sell it cuz i'm sure others would be willing to buy it.

I read the first volume... and I went, "Hang on... what just happened?" so I re-read it an I understood it a little bit more but it didn't leave anything for me to think about =[ (Yeah I get deep when reading manga lmao) I didn't like the art very much either... *sigh* I felt really bad for the book so I tried to make myself like it... but I guess it didn't work.
