If you're looking for a manga with romance, drama and comedy, this is the perfect choice. I've read this 3 times already but it never failed to make me cry everytime I read it.
The first volumes focus on introducing the characters, and as you continue to read to the end, it's where the drama and romance unfold. The ending is perfect too - I wish I could've seen more about what happened.
Best shoujo manga ever.

I used to love this manga... It was the first one I ever read... But now that I look back at it I find it really boring... The pictures aren't the greatest, but I do like the story... Though the whole emotional journey that each of the characters go on is really boring and depressing... and towards the endo of the series it startes to get very depressing. But volume 15 has to be the best one in the series! And the first few books are really good.
it'll make you smile :]

i finished this manga 2 years ago and i must say it was really sweet.. and touching. it was a wonderful read even though it was a little sad that it was over and finished. i don't think i will re-read this because it was just so nice yenno? once was enough, and if i can recall i think i cried at the end.. and don't usually cry about these kinds of things

I liked it, but it was a bit long. In this series, you learn about everyone and their grandmother's stories. It's pretty depressing and angsty most of the time, and the protaganist is annoying as sin, but the character development (of all characters save the protaganist) throughout the story is pretty good.
Just going to say.

Personally disliked it. Too much of a sausage-fest with plenty of homosexual reference. But hey, if you're into that, along with plenty of drama, you're sure to enjoy Fruits Basket.
edit: Example of what I'm talking about, is for instance when the one guy proves his hair is "naturally white". Ahem...Yeah...about that...

One of my fave manga.

Give this one a go, you won't regret

I LOVED the anime, and though the art is quite nice, the story because extremely boring, pointless, and laggy after volume 7.
I am not the girl, I don't like shoujo. But by some how...
I love this manga so much. Well I know alot of pple said like this already ^^. " You'll laugh, you'll cry. Doesn't he just turn into a cat?" Yeah, it's not that cool if you have to eraze your friends memories about you if they know that you can turn into animal.
About the art, I think it's really clean, 9.0
About the content....10.00++

This is a great starting series into early 2000's shoujo manga, but i think a lot of people look back at it with rose-colored lenses. The manga itself has its share of flaws that can make the series hard to complete. I couldn't get over how annoying I found many of the characters. They seemed too much like simple stereotypes and not actual, fleshed-out people.
