Rosario+Vampire.
It's the bee's knees. The Bishop's knickers. The Dog's wag.
The best School/Supernatural manga I've had the pleasure of reading, and one of the best romances to witness. Period.
Characters are silly, young, and foolish. Full of errors and make many mistakes, just like many kids their age. But as the author's drawing skill improves and as the plot deepens, you really get a sense of a coming of age, a growth of maturity, of perspective. Not only is this visible in how the characters think, but also how they act and treat one another. It is a treat to see how this group of friends form and grow close to one another, how they face challenges together, and how this carries onto the next series.
The plot? Appears to be simple, but is an amazingly delivered, each arc passing the torch with ease and realism. The escalation is crazily well done, starting off with dispatching delinquents before culminating into genuine threats. After the main engine of the story kicks in, every chapter is relevant. There are no filler chapters. No brakes.
The romance? Amazing. The subtle cues revolving the principle heroine, Moka, both Inner and Outer, and her relationship with the protagonist Tsukune are amazing for the setting, and demand you to follow through into the next installment of the series to witness the continuation of their relationship. Not restricted to Moka, however: The confessions, introspections, and heartfelt conversations that occur are juvenile and moments of epiphanies, where characters reconcile. Each situation is different, although often stemming from anxiety and other feelings related to insecurity.
As a reader who has followed this series update by update to its current state, I highly recommend this manga to the young and restless, for a relatable experience and story about acceptance, friendship, and bravery. It is my favorite manga, because unlike any other manga I have read, you will relate to one of these characters. And through this story you will stand witness to how they struggle and triumph over their own flaws and the challenges that they face.
Enjoy one of the best mangas created so far in the century. I know you will.

As a girl, I must say the wave of fan-service didn't impress me in the least. So, my review at least won't be biased in that manner. Lol.
So, I personally first discovered the monster-academy genre through Rosario Vampire. I liked the variety of monsters featured, but there was a certain lack of character development. The romance was also kind of shallow----it gets better in rosario vampire II in my opinion (especially with the succubus)

Honestly, this isn't the best series but what do you expect from a harem, The girls are insanely cute and the art is amazing. loosecannon504 really is a loose cannon and wrote a whole essay on the topic. But to be honest no one went into rosario vampire expecting INSANELY DEEP STORY. The story is getting a lot deeper now, but the thing is people went in looking for a light comedy. I'd say the anime captures that essence a lot better than the manga. Definitely read this if your looking a an ecchi manga with amazing art, if your looking for insanely deep story and character developement, look elsewhere. However I do have to say, when Tsukune finally gets some fighting ability it was pretty bad ass.
Nice series :D

Well he may be weak (for now) at least hes not a wimp, in certain situations (SPOILER) he almost died taking hits for moka hes pretty courageous if you ask me. The series is pretty good so far. What I like about the manga is that they cover situations where people can get descriminated and try to get past things like that.

Wondering why suddenly so many scanlators picked up Rosario. Not to mention both decided to be rude and start translating from the middle ( it'd be ok if this manga was dropped, but it wasn't so they should've started from the beginning ).
Not to mention it looks to me like they're having a race who's going to be faster. Just lame.

I want to post my POV on this manga. Some people have said they basically think it's a story which exploits the monster theme to introduce a "freak of the week" which Super Moka beats up. It may seem like that at the start, when the story is just getting going, but really, it's a great story.
This story is NOT about Tsukune and his goofy misunderstandings with various non-humans (in fact, there's really no pointless stuff like that--obviously there are misunderstandings between Tsukune & folk, but it's not like he's constantly in a comical pinch)--we seriously meet other non-humans besides Moka who Tsukune befriends. Not only that, Tsukune's friends are likeable, real characters, not characteratures of monsters with human personalities, and aren't noticeably cliched at all. I'd describe this story as more of a school life comedy drama than a fantasy shounen, honestly. Admittedly their are various hijinx with Tsukune getting in awkward situations (when a non-human suddenly happens to take an interest in him, he's often in a difficult situation since he's powerless), and Moka does kinda fit the "cute girl suddenly obsessed with guy" cliche (but she has a serious personality, and there's actually drama between them, it's far from just fluff) and the witch girl reminds you of Skuld and really annoys you at first before she mellows out, but... these shounen plot elements are far from a giant overwhelming presence in the manga.
The latest release just got through a really serious (and by serious I do mean "serious"--it wasn't comic at all, people's were at stake, a lot of character development occurred all around, and it touched on a lot of deep themes. not just a fluff plot arc where in the end nothing came from it except the idea of a deepened relationship) plot development, and I'm wondering how things will change in the story from now on.
