Hey, don't blame me! Technically speaking, I don't have the grounds to lock this thread either...I also didn't change the main release page to include that anti-tazmo ad. I don't have control of the site's layout...

Holy Crap! I didn't see that AD until now.

Wait, if he charges people for manga that are illegally distributed....isn't that illegal?

Here's the previous topic I made about Tazmo(the wife beater)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?page=1&tid= 1080&hl=tazmo

Like how you can make copies of CDs but you can't sell them without permission from the author.

I know i will probably hear some critics about this but i thought that i should state my opinion.

I think that what TAZMO did was something that ppl have been doing since the dawn of humanity... taking advantage of stupid/ignorant ppl for his own profit. Sure many arguments can be made about how it's immoral, illegal, bad for the community (and the list could continue). But this can't change the fact that some ppl are just so stupid they deserve to be taken advantage of.

I mean this is the INTERNET don't ppl know by now that u could find almost anything for free (u could probably even find u'r aunt's sister's cousin's "fake" nude picture if u search long enough). My point is that most ppl there were just lazy to search for something they want longer than 15 min & just settled for the pay site (it was their decision).

Frankly I whouldn't be caught dead paying for something on the internet (be it manga, anime, games, movies, music etc.), there is always a way to get them for FREE as i'm sure u can agree.

If u want something to change I thing this campaign to educate ppl is the best way (although some may argue that stupidity has no cure). TAZMO is not the Antichrist, I just see him as a business-man (sure he may be a cheating ppl out of their money... but the same can be said about almost every company & politician around...or at least it's that way in Romania so my morals can be a bit screwed) .

I whould like to ad that I have absolutely no affiliation to TAZMO (or any other scanlation group for that matter). This is my own personal opinion.

I'm sorry, NeoFireHawk, but your 2 large paragraphs (with of course no spacing, or there would be more paragraphs) posted here on the Manga-Updates forum at 1:26 am, Jul 8 2007, is painful for my eyes. eek cry

Yeah, they're pretty large but you only need to read the first paragraph to understand what StopTazmo.com is and how was created. The second one is more about the development of the site, so you could ignore it if you are only interested in knowing about Tazmo.

Quote from Takiko
I can't find it on the front page of the source either.

That article is under the "chit chat" section, in the Stoptazmo general info. history/shitlist thread.

And by the way, if you read the article and visit the site you'll notice that they name "Kane" as their administrator but if you see the member's list you'll not find any administrator with that name. That's because Kane uses tazmo's real name (Kevin Shiel) as his username as a form of mockery (as well as Brian shiel, the other administrator of StopTazmo. The real Brian Shiel is Tazmo's father.)

Okay, almost all of us here are illegal because we're reading licensed manga for free. But what we're doing with what isn't licensed is legal, and what Tazmo's doing is. He is making money off of other people's work, and yes, he is cheating people. He's one of those sniveling people that will always exist, and should be rooted out.

I sent an email to the admins of Bludshock about a way to stop him. I doubt that it'll work, but it's an idea. Actually, it will work, but it'll take lots of people - there's probably a more effective way. Just in case Tazmo does visit this site, I won't post it.

no no...not quite. We are reading it, but we aren't the ones who actually make it available online for other people. I guess we are partially responsible by law. Either way, Tazmo is making money off people in an illegal manner anyway you look at it. I don't know much about the whole sharing is caring Idea. I favour the capitalistic idea, make money off other people until they die, but only if you can do it legally. Anyway, I don't like what tazmo is doing.

Yeah making money off of other peoples scans is pretty messed up. Bad for anime/manga community as well since it gives everyone a bad name.

Well, the hate for Tazmo is nothing new, but with the big spreading of manga/anime sites we have today I find it difficult to believe Tazmo's still having good profits with narutofan.
The only thing I dont like is the fact that the money people "donates" to narutofan could be given to support good sites (distro bots for scanlation groups, #lurk, etc). That aside, this makes me think what kind of people pays to narutofan. Maybe they are better like that, getting their money stolen.

even thought tazmo is taking advantage of stupid people, it doesn't matter.

this'll most likely affect the scanlating community because we're the "root" of the problem. if authorities decide to try to stop someone, they'll persecute him for making money, but then turn to us because we're actually producing works...

which... kinda is bad, because we're mostly expanding a fanbase... without want for profit. so, this affects me because it could lead to the destruction of my want to spread the story of suzuka to american readers everywhere. thus, i oppose him for profiting.

How about finding his IP and having all of the scanlators ban it from their sites?
