I am so sick of typical shoujo manga's! I want something that strikes me as different. To me a typical shoujo manga is one where weak emotional girl wants a boyfriend, meets boy, instantly falls in love, over time he falls in love too, teenage angst, the end.
I want something that's a refreshing change of pace! For instance where the heroine changes over time, and doesn't fall for the guy first, but can't be considered weak either (might sound confusing, but for example; Skip Beat). Or a beautiful popular guy goes after a totally uninterested geeky girl (Can't think of any examples sorry!)
Or just a different/interesting heroine (It's been awhile but I think KareKano's like this)
Sorry if I left my description a little broad, to summarize I just want a refreshingly different manga, or aleast one that has a nice change of pace. No yuri, or yaoi please smile Reverse harems are much appreciated. Thanks!

The problem here is that you're just reading fluffy romance shoujos.... Stop that.

Try something different...

Use the Genre Search Function and the new Category Lists.
Or maybe you could just dive head first into the Release Page and see if something peeks your interests.

Now, there's nothing wrong with reading shoujos... some are very nice. You just need to realize what your getting into by reading the summary and figuring out the quality of the story before hand.

It doesn't focus on the romance, but you might just want to read Ghost Hunt - the plot is not all that out of the norm, but it definitely isn't just your typical high school love story, either.

Also, try C-Blossom - Case 729 by the same author as that of Coelacanth

Cinderella Fella - I've only read the first two chapters but I think you might like it?
Otomen
Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume
Ai Hime ~ Ai to Himegoto - it's not really what you specified but if you want a break from shallow, cliched mangas I think you'll like it smile
Youth Gone Wild
Beast Master
Billion Girl - possibly
First Girl - again, possibly
Kimi ni Todoke
Kingyo Sou - if you're looking for something different then this is definately one, I think ^^
Madamoiselle Butterfly
The Prince's Cactus
Tokyo Crazy Paradise
hmmm, some of these maybe aren't what you're looking for but check them out anyway, you might like them biggrin

Wow thanks for all the wonderful suggestions!

@Toto, wow thanks for all the topics, I'll go through them all later, and I'll take your advice of getting out of the fluffy romance shoujos smile

@VampireBanana, I think I'll try Immortal Rain it looks interesting, the other two are alittle too old for my taste though, but thanks.

@vymletoza, wow some great suggestions I've never seen before, I've already read and loved Penguin Revolution, Angel Sanctuary, and Beauty Pop, (sorry that my reading lists aren't very recent). Anyways I'll definitely trysome of those suggestions!

@calstine, I watched and loved the Ghost Hunt anime, I've also read C-Blossom - Case 729 (once again sorry my reading list is so poorly updated), but I think I'll try Coelacanth it looks interesting.

@kichiX, alot of these are exactly what I was looking for thank you smile

i think you will like Men's School, wait till chapter 4 when Chika(one of the heroines) shows up and then it becomes pretty damn good. Multiple couple relationships, from guy's perspective and good art.
