well, for whole 17 years of my life I just know superhero american comic,
spiderman, batman, fantastic four etc...

now I'm bored and want to read something new aside of manga.
Is there any American Comic with shoujo genre??
I mean, you know, fill of romance tag, just tell about love life an ordinary girl [not a superhero] and full of cliche biggrin

I know this is sound weird, even I dunno is there any, so I'm so curious.
give me a title and bit describtion.

Thank you~~~

edit: I want american comic like Sugar Family, Sora Log, Strobe Edge, Lovely Complex.
well, romance without SUPERHERO

thank you biggrin

W.I.T.C.H. is the closest thing I can think of. It was pretty good from what I can remember. I really liked it when I was around thirteen to twelve. Apart from that... I can't really think of any.

Anything from the Minx comic imprint.

Some of my favourite were:

The P.L.A.I.N. Janes
Good as Lily
Re-Gifters
Confessions of a Blabbermouth
Token

143
Daisuki
Delilah's Mystery
Obsession
Pink Diary
Sayonara September
Strawberry Lollipop
The Clique

I loved W.I.T.C.H. ahaha.
I personally don't know any either, so this thread sparked my interest as well. Ah, but this link might help.

Princess Ai - just look at the sparkly, shoujo-y cover! laugh (And btw - it's marked as a manga but was written by a Western author, so I think it counts)

That's the Courtney love one right?

I ain't into shoujo much, but there's Dramacon. Its a romance set in an anime convention. Haven't read it, though.

I'd say Dramacon is probably the best example of an american comic with a shoujo feel that I can think of. A lot of people say it's the best "OEL manga" they've ever read. I would probably agree, but I really haven't read many OEL manga.

I agree with Dramacon. You might want to check some online comics/manga too. eyes

try googling romance graphic novels? Would all those harlequin novels that were made into manga work or do you want specifically western style comics?
http://www.emanga.com/books/?s=all&pub=harlequin

if i find anything else from google i'll post

Check out the girls' romance stories that were published in America during the so-called "golden age" of comics, between the 40s-50s. They're about as close a counterpart to shoujo manga that exists in American comics. This site, apparently done as part of someone's thesis, has a lot of scans from that era.

Try looking up British girls' comics like the defunct Bunty and Girl, too. They're not American (obviously), but they tend to have a more traditionally "shoujo" feel than their more-mature American counterparts. This guy's blog has a lot of scans from British girls' comics of the 50s-80s. (He has a lot of American romance comics, too.) They're great fun.
