I'm looking for a manga, shoujo or josei, anything but yaoi or yuri really, where the guy is girly looking but actually has a manly personality and the girl is handsome/popular with the girls with her guy looking features, it'd be nice if her character is not ridiculously girly, ie. typical shoujo girls, and she's not some extremely insecure type of girl. but that may be asking for too much.

It is possible that there is a thread about this already before, if anyone know the link, I'd be grateful if I could be redirected over.

Thank you!!!

Omigoodness I love this trope so much and I don't even know why. I understand your request and have a handful of things to offer... biggrin

Try:
Ai Ore! and sequel/prequel whatever
Pheromomania Syndrome
Kimi wa Girlfriend, perhaps
Venus Capriccio
Otomen- though the guy is also quite manly, it's very good

These partially fit:
Pump Up! has only a girlish guy
Kanojo ga Cafe ni Kayou Wake has only a guyish girl

Random role-reversals I haven't read yet:
Operation Liberate Men
Oooku

Heheh, this is all I've been able to compile over quite a decent time period of searching, so I hope someone else has suggestions, too. But this should satisfy your wishes, at least temporarily~

Edit: haha I saw that we posted at the same time Serian smile

First thing that came to my mind:

Otomen
Joshi Mousou Shoukougun
Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero! <- female is handsome but still quite shoujoish...

there are 2 categories "Manly/Handsome Female" and "Feminine Male" those could help you as well:

Shitsurakuen - the girl is manly, but as for the guy...the main guy isn't girly, but the other male characters are, in a way. One is sly/seductive, another is infatuated/devoted, there's a kind/caring one, an emotionally weak one, and one with a motherlike protectiveness.

I just finished Yotteke! Otoko Mura. I think you may like it. It's an extremely light read.

It's been a while since I read this, but I think Hush is exactly like this.
