I'm looking for a shounen/seinen manga with the main theme stemming from character development and redeeming one's self, much like Kurosawa from Onani Master Kurosawa or like Luke fon Fabre in Tales of the Abyss. I prefer very nice and art and a writing style that can easily demonstrate the raw emotions of the characters in the manga and draw the reader into the story. I also do not want any wimpy protagonists, I want the protagonist to be able to have some balls to admit his wrongdoings and choose his/her own path. Romance is optional but preferred.

Does it have to be shounen/seinen?
because Dengeki Daisy really would fit

if it has to be:
perhabs Rurouni Kenshin
perhabs Superior and Superior Cross

Unfortunately, I am not the type of person to read shoujo manga (as are most guys), and as for your shounen/seinen recommendations, I have read those already.

Shikeisyu 042 fits well.
the breaker fits to a lesser extent... it is kinda like he is trying to redeem himself for his weakness in the past.
green boy and hajime no ippo can be seen as somewhat similar... although I'm really stretching at this point.

Btw as to your remark about shoujo, that is only because the titles a prejudged based on being shoujo. I have read shoujo and josei that surpass almost, if not, all shounen and seinen. If you bias your views to this extent you will miss out on a lot of epic manga.

But you're still young, so I understand your point of view. Perhabs you can try those later, because this

often happens in shoujo/josei mangas (at least the better ones)
