Just like what the title said. I'm looking for a manga where the protagonist is portrayed as a kind, strong, dependable person; something tragic happens and the protagonist turns into a kind of character driven by revenge.
Something like Berserk in where Guts went super crazy after his friends were killed and his lover raped.
Something like Ubel Blatt were the main character gets betrayed and is driven by revenge.
Something like Legend of Maian where Felix loses Felicia and is on a quest to get her back.
These are the only type of manga I have read that resembles what I'm looking for. Just like what the title said. tower of god fits
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
during the first half of the manga the main ch is the type of guy that everyone loves and gets behind but then the one that he trusts the most betrays him and everyone thinks he is dead, but during the second half the main ch comes back a few years later with a different name and is a total bad-ass who everyone thinks is evil (well he is now part of a group that is known to be evil not to mention he is first introduced with 3 people knocked out around him then tries to knock out everyone else) and is now a loner who is trying to get to the top of the tower to meet the one who betrayed him

If you're willing to go outside your comfort zone, Skip Beat! fits this perfectly.
Blade of the Immortal's female lead fits this description.
I suppose death note might fit this too, though it's not revenge so much as a god complex.
Have you tried Monster? That might fit as well.

Might want to check out The Legend of Maian, Vinland Saga and Holyland.
I'm pretty sure those 3 would fit your criterias

To save time to Muraka, Skip Beat does not fit at all, Want revenge =/= Anti-hero, to begin with it's not even the same kind of revenge
it's funny how Monster is the one that could be said to fit the best among all your recommendations, everything else doesn't
No offence intended, but i couldn't help thinking all that and i tough i migh as well write it.
Higanjima It takes some time till it happens, give it a chance.
As other people said, if you liked Ubel and Berserk you should try Vinland
edit: The problem is that for this kind of petition he might have to, the change in the character not necessarily will happen at the begging, in the one i recommended it happens when the history is quite advanced (not that much, but quite a few chapters)

Whatevs. I know Skip Beat! was way out in left field as far as genre but i threw it in anyway for the irony that it pretty much does fit the recommendation and cuz it's a good read even for those that normally hate shoujo.
I'll leave it up to him if he wants to try the other ones, he wouldn't have to read that far to figure out if they were what he was looking for.

Ah man I've read Vinland already. I just don't like the fact that he became a farmer -.-
As for Skip Beat, sorry I'm not into shoujo that much.
Yeah I just finished ch.75 of Legend of Maian - kinda pissing me off.
I read Holyland before - I got bored of it so I just dropped it.
Monster looks good, I'll totally read that.
Tower of God - ill probably read that.
If there's any more, don't hesitate.
BTW thx guys

Oyasumi Punpun - the protagonist is an innocent little kid at the beginning of story but grows up to be a pretty messed up person

I second Tower Of God.
And I am just adding this as a technicality, since I do not think it is a very good example and I have a certain amount of disdain for this series, but Sasuke from Naruto is clearly meant to be that type of character.

Akumetsu... Definitely because at first the main character is the type of guy who wouldn't hurt a fly ,but then because of the death of a freind he wants to gets revenge on all who are responsible and also make sure this kind of stuff doesn't happen again. He wants to eradicate evil. He becomes the hand of justice. Kind of like deathnote.
