Hello guys, and girls ^^

This question must have come up earlier, but I am looking for a manga; favourably a seinen taking place in a school environment(optional). Think of Gantz, in which Kurono gains these awesome abilities through his suit or as in The breaker where he becomes this martial artist. The dark, mature atmosphere is really important for me such as in Berserk, Vagabond and Battle Royale. Tech-noir, cyberpunk and/or post-apocalyptic mangas are well welcomed if they're good like Evangelion or Akira! Survival mangas are cool, such as Battle Royale or Btooom! which certainly match up to Gantz (if not better) but they still kind of lack the feeling you get from when they take place in society, where the general populations reactions will be seen; as opposed to being on a deserted island with no people around except for those there, but this is not a requirement if the manga is really good!

This was my first topic so I hope you guys will be nice on me and if there is another topic like mine, please redirect me to that discussion because I couldn't find one myself. At least I hope the topic made sense smile

Mangas I've read:
Alive
Veritas
The Breaker and New waves (niiiice ^^)
Parasyte
Berserk
Btooom!
Gantz
Battle Royale
.... as well as some other few.

Shingeki no Kyojin
Has a Gantz-like feel to it, but doesn't match your descriptions much...
It's pretty good though! biggrin

Actually, I'm looking for the same thing as well. Ive read a lot of what you read and I don't know if these are quite what you're looking for, but I've read these:
Holyland
Jisatsutou
Liar Game
One Outs
Tsumi to Batsu
Eden: It's an Endless World

And recently I've started reading Naoki Urasawa's works (Monster, Pluto, 20th Century Boys and its sequel)

I'm not too sure, but if you are looking for something with an amazing atmosphere, that gives up some kind of darker feel without the need of explanations all along, then I would first off recommend Gangsta.. It's definitely worth a look! ^^

The same may go for:
* Mugen no Juunin - Also, great artwork and captivating storyline, including tragical and survival elements

* :REverSAL - I just started reading this one, but it looks promising so far...

* BB Project - The atmosphere changes by time between lighter and darker elements, while the main character gets caught up in a situation comparable to The Breaker's main.

* Gekiryuuchi - Heavy background, school life
* Ousama Game (RENDA Hitori) - Survival, school life
* Blood+ - School life, but later more focused on the horror tag
* Basilisk - As usual ...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It's better, if you don't get attached to one of the characters, since the tournament set up in this one is deadly...

Thank you guys, I'll look into your recommendations! Holyland is one good manga I've read and it seems to match Gekiryuuchi a bit so I'll look into that one! Too bad that I read about 2000pages a day :/ I kinda read them too fast, anyone else has this problem?

knight run may fit your dark criteria. In the war against aliens, mankind is losing badly, many, many casualties in each chapter.
