Like the title says, I'm looking for short manga (preferrably around 1-2 volumes, 3 max) with a sad or bittersweet ending. Romance is preferred, although I don't mind if it's subtle/implied romance or as a subplot.
Examples would be Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan, Heaven's Door (HONGOU Ranko), Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai, and Kon no Ki Konoha.
No excessive hentai or ecchi please!

Also, I'm looking for the name of a manga that my friend described to me. It's a romance manga about a person who gets in an accident and is replaced by a robot/artificial intelligence. His/her lover doesn't know of this, and ends up loving the robot as much as/more than the person. I think the AI also developed feelings for the lover too... In the end, they have a confrontation with each other that leads to a sad/bittersweet ending.
And I'm not confident that everything I described is 100% correct, so the actual manga might be slightly different...

Try Chibi Vampire (Karin) It's alot longer than you like but I highly suggest giving it a try, the ending was kinda sad, and through out the series there will be alot of WTF moments and "Holy Crap That Did Not Just Happen" moments yes it's 14 volumes but its a great series! Other than that... well I'm not too good with Emotional or Emotionally Sad Series... I get hit hard with the Feels...

Koi Kyokusei
Tada, Kimi o Aishiteru I don't remember if the ending was sad, but I think it was definitely bittersweet.
Taiyou no Uta
Not Simple Incest, but there is little exposure for the reader. A unique art style.
Eien no With One of my all time faves.

Maybe the manga you're looking for is Hal (AYASE Umi)?

Thank you for all the suggestions! I've read Maware Kazeguruma, Kanojo no Namida ga Yuki da Toshitara, Hotel, Half & Half, and watched Taiyou no Uta and Hotarubi no Mori e. The latter three are probably the best examples of what I'm looking for.

I took a look at A,A' but I don't think that's the manga I'm looking for because I don't think my friend would read something with that kind of art style. And I'm pretty sure the manga is completed, so it shouldn't be Hal. Thank you for trying though!
