If plot armour had a name.

FL with her super plot armour but all and all this FL is NOTHING without ML even gutter rat be more useful than her if she is without ML lol but SIMP characterless ML is even worse I mean he literally has one line character depth like after 1st chapter just all he does is love FL unconditionaly lmao retarded author trick.

Typical storyline of plot armoured princess trying to rule the kingdom which she literally watched destroyed as she lived comfortable but then realizes lol that she was wrong and needs to take the kingdom back by the people who earned it by shamelessly flaunting her legitimaticy with no real life experience of any literal sense.

This is a recipe for trash with disgust as other characters are puke inducingly worshiping FL without any real worth or reason
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it's like Naruto when he says dattebayo and all enemies surrender or fairy tail with power of friendship
lol if she offered a candy to a child he will worship till his d*ath that kind of retarded development. A true master piece written by a mentally ill person with copy paste tech.

Acradnxy review is far better btws.

Trigger Warning: One occurrence of rape
by moonmystery
October 3rd, 2023, 4:48pm
Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
The art is pretty. I also like the the female lead a lot. It is a chill story spanning 3 generations.

The only major problem I have with this webtoon is how quickly the two main characters fell for each other after he raped her when they first met. She is shown scared because it hurt so much. That was never satisfactorily resolved, but the rest of the series shows a very strong female main lead with an abundance of mystery and charm. And luckily, nothing like that happened again. By the end, I actually thought the male lead was kind of bland in comparison to the gorgeous female MC.

I really enjoyed the colorful art and focus on rebuilding a town from ground up, but I wish they actually dove deeper into the process. Overall i just wish the author spent more time with the details related to the romance, the kingdom, and the towns being rebuilt after the war. The broad strokes the author painted are not fully satisfying. The side characters are 1-dimensional plot devices used only to show how cool our female MC is. As a result, no one felt real except for her. Nonetheless, I did binge everything in one sitting, and I would recommend this for a chill read if you're bored.

Also, for those dismissing the occurrence of rape, you are part of the problem. It is possible to enjoy a piece of media while recognizing problematic themes/undertones. It is also ok to abstain from media with morals you do not agree with. That's why trigger warnings exist. By modern standards, she absolutely did not consent and was in incredible pain from the event. This is a story made by and for modern people living in the 21st century, even if it is a historical story. Also, just because something was allowed back then doesn't make it any more palatable to experience. So even if the character herself did not see the act as rape, she also clearly hated the experience. For her to then change tunes so quickly and fall for the ML kind of feels dismissive of such an intrusive and ugly act. Although, we could always call it stockholm syndrome...

Interesting story

First of all, I wanna say that this is one of the unique character designs I've encountered. I cannot mistake it with anyone else's. I would give it a 10, but I found the FL too powerful which makes it convenient for the plot, almost like Mary Sue.

The idea that I like is that it is a bit similar to Mystic Prince but opposite. FL here disguises as a female war slave (in which she is known as a Prince, but she is biologically a girl) for survival, while the latter is a biologically a girl but disguises as a prince to get the throne.

Good plot twist. Good romance. Panels are quick, you can binge read it. Doesn't get too boring when read continuously.

Has some charming moments, but overall lightweight and with paper thin characters

Meh, this manhwa, while not very good, there are things to like here, for certain! I for one found the naive, simplistic drawing style totally in sync with the semi-medieval setting, but overall, this is a fluffy, not too deep effort that you'll forget two days after reading it. The story is somehow jumbled, with a very positive message in general, but not ironed enough and again, too simplistic to work on and to develop into anything more intense.

The characters... What can I say, didn't like them that much. Many reviewers rave about Edna, but I didn't find her intriguing in the least. The story of her being raised as a boy is a EXTREME stretch of the imagination. Like nobody checked to see the gender when she was born? Do they know how stuff worked in the Medieval times?? Her inner conflict is too unrealistic, she's a Mary Sue and has some bipolar moments where you have to stop and ask yourself wft (this moment could have been used to build a character who's intriguing but not mentally completely sane becouse she was raised as a man and was pretty conflicted and confused, but no, they went the safe route and made her simply too boring and too goodie-two-shoes). The ML is meh, totally bland. Supporting characters too. Worldbuilding is too thin. The villains could have been much better, but here we get, Count Polit, the non descriptive mustache twirling villain with a tragic backstory. Nothing to see here.

There are some nice moments between the ML and FL, but boy, let's not get started on the rape backstory, and yes, their relationship progressed so fast it didn't' make any sense. And ML is sold to us as a brutal and ruthless warlord, when in fact's he's a big teddy bear. We certainly got duped on that one! Only character who gave me any whiff of interest was Coutn Polit's older son, but he's killed of too soon and with a very weak story arc. Ditto for Lady Ann, now there was some real opportunities to make her into a scheming, ambitious noblewoman, but she ends up a lame joke!

Overall, this is a light and nice read, but nothing outstanding. Not a rec, but can't say it didn't have some good parts. For fans of manhwa shojou, for sure!

Good surprise !

Ok it may not deserve a 7/10. Maybe I’m this generous because I’ve only read dumb ones lately or because I initially didn’t expect much at all when I picked this up, but it was a good read. Once the “Imma rape you stay still” was over (guys it’s so common in lame shojos it cannot be the first time you’ve seen this) the story began. And oh boy I was so pleasantly surprised by how much more intricate the plot was ! It was nothing too original or too complex, and it remains very light, but it definitely was thought out in advance. I also loved the characters, especially the female lead because she had more depth than I expected. I also loved that she was able to deal with things herself,

even battles.
(I’m so sick of supposedly strong female leads who end up being weak or always needing help after being involved with the male lead). Plus I really love characters with this kind of background and uprising.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She was raised as a man (a prince to be more exact).

All in all, and it may be because I started this with very low expectations, I really found myself enjoying this read. I wanted to know more, see what was going to happen, and I read it all in one sitting. It was not just a lame ass love story between stereotyped characters, this felt like a legit little story with power struggles, world building and adventure. Yes it could have been better for sure, especially if the relationship and the characters’ growth were better handled (it wasn’t natural), but I feel satisfied so here goes a little 7/10.
(๑・̑◡・̑๑)

Ps : The art is nothing outstanding but it is good. (I’m in love with the cover however)

Romance with a shounen-worthy plot
by noobzilla

First, don't let the Catholic nuns [aka undesirable, femcel karens] with pitchforks censor this story or stop you from reading it. Keep your nasty values to yourself, karens. "Oh it's rape!", stfu snowflake, nobody sane cares.

Now for the review. When you grow old and look back at these teen romances, you realise most shoujo male leads, in real life, would be undesirable simps that spend all their time with the female lead and come out with words of comfort and advice that only a woman could say. So I was surprised that this author made the attempt at a man, who sort of acts like a RL man (not perfect) with duties beyond simping after a woman. AND a plot!! Yes a plot that doesn't constantly revolve around the female character. Not just softcore romance mental porn.

Strong female leads are the flavor of the decade so that's nothing to give praise about. But I did enjoy the light hearted region defence, and political themes attempted by this shoujo author. It's not perfect and I admit it is somewhat simplistic but I give credit to her for trying as few female authors dare to venture out of their romance comfort zone and manage to retain an audience. If i were to complain about one thing it's the unrealistic overpoweredness of the female character.

If you've been reading a lot of shounen/seinen and a little annoyed at the lack of romance, give this one a try. it's almost the best of both worlds. I will follow this authors development, hopefully in her new works she learns to create more nuanced and complex worlds.

Not worth the ads
by Acradnxy
October 9th, 2020, 11:06pm
Rating: 3.3  / 10.0
I started to read this because of the ads in Instagram for years now. I gave in to read it because honestly, I don't really like Manhwa (Korean manga) because of their art style and the stupidly dragging with many many filler and unrelated stories, bad at characters development and many more... Oh, boy, I was wrong.... at the beginning only.

The start is VERY good! Very very GOOD! I was sucked into it, I want more of it. I want to see more of Edna and Eli, but ho boy... it all started to fall apart after Edna's become cheery duchess... It's not wrong to see her becomes a change woman, from a stoic to a cheerful woman, but she seems like an extreme bipolar patient. She will suddenly angry like Hulk, showing those deadly eyes, acting arrogant then calm down again within a minute, back to her smiley face.

I also want to start of how Mary-sue and stupid the story is...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
When Monde and his men attack the town, Edna smacks all of them with her own strength. Edna is a woman, yes, she was Prince Eden, she trained during her childhood, but how come a woman WITHOUT a real war experience or battle experience or even training for the last 2-3 years (maybe more) do this thing by herself? Chris is a whip wielder too and had gone to a WAR, a REAL WAR! Yet, he just sits around and let Edna do the stuff so she can becomes the super hero. Also, other EXPERIENCED knights, who have gone to WAR with Eli, like Kian, Mcfonnald (forget how to spell his name) wounded here and there, what about Edna? She RESCUED those knights and doesn't have any single scratch on her.

And what about Eli? He feels like an extra in the future chapters so Edna can find her happiness and also to have Edna pregnant. He's a war hero for God's sake, show him battling somebody, not only his wife who do the battles.

I like Edna with short hair better, her attitude becomes so fake and very Mary-sue-ish after 3 years later. You can make Edna as an invisible woman, but hey, let's not forget her husband.

I know people are sick to see lame and weak women in story (like those Disney princesses just waiting her prince charming while singing those goddamn song so Disney can sell them with overpriced and copyrighted everything or most shoujo mangas where the mc just take all the abuse doing nothing but crying), but this is FAR BEYOND unrealistic.Look at Mulan 1998 vs Mulan 2020. Which one is better? Mulan 1998 is weak physically, well, duh, she's a woman. As a woman myself, I can't lift heavy things, I need my brother to do those thing for me and I accept it. Women have limit to their physical strength, it's the real truth, unless you want to train like those muscly women, be my guest, I'm not gonna judge. But we need to agree with one thing, her (Mulan 1998) brain is beyond those men. She makes men bow down to her with her brain! What Mulan 2020 do? Conquer your inner womanhood and manhood so you can become an invincible Mary-sue by kicking all those arrows and spears that come to you?

What makes me fall apart is how the ending is. As I mention above, Eli becomes like an extra in later chapters (after 10ish chapters), and in the end it still the same, an extra. So, they prepare for the war against Count Polit (Pilot? Polot? Pilit? forget his name too) and after finally I think I can see Eli in action, Edna comes... Hahahaha... OMG... The goddess of war comes to defeat that count within 10 sec. Bruh... the enemies here either doesn't do any training or too dumb or just too suicidal.

You know what Eli does in the end? Punching a traitor to save his brother. That's it... and we get more talking.

And suddenly Katrina, whoever that is comes to the finale so Cayden can get married (a happy ending for him?)

And suddenly Alex (Edna and Eli's kid) becomes 20yo and training sword. And suddenly Edna challenges Eli. And suddenly, Edna's won. Jesus... All hail to Edna!!! Yay!! (sarcasm)

And as this is not enough already, they have a sequel. Staring Alex, maybe so their lines can reclaim the throne as Katrina can't have a child.

Oh, almost forget, how in the world, a broken man like Eli falls in love with Edna within less than a week? How in the world a rape victim (Eli raped Edna in chapter 1) who shown fear when Eli tries to touch her falls in love within less than a week? Is it because how gentle Eli is for their second time? This is absurd... And this manga is for all age I guess? The ads are everywhere for these past 3 years. Man, how dangerous internet nowadays... And looking at the 10 stars rating here makes me scarred. Is this how a good story wish to be told nowadays?

Overall: 8/10 at the beginning of the manga

3.3/10 after the great beginning.

Disappointed....

Light but enjoyable read

Just read this through one sitting. It's a very light read with strong female MC that is very enjoyable. This would have been a favorite if there were more chapters and filled with drama and more conflict for the MC couple. But, theb this wouldn't be a light read.

Btw, I pretty much agree with what everyone is saying:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Edna was forced against her will (rape) in the first part.
But, I'm saying this is typical of Western body-ripper novels which is exactly what I think this is.

Interesting Main Characters/Weak Villains/Not a Suspenseful Story
by Castalia_

I love Edna as a character and Eli grows on me despite what happens at the beginning.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Trigger Warning: There is a very dubious consent of sex in the beginning. By today's standard, yes, she was definitely raped. In the time this story is set in, unfortunately, she was just "fulfilling her duties as a wife."
And everyone who who wonder why she gets over it so quickly? Because Edna lives in the time period she lives in. She essentially said "yes" by being his wife (I know being married is not a consent for sex, but for the time period, it is). She is a woman in a male-dominant world and she was essentially "won" as a prize (except not the initially agreed upon prize). Of course, if that's something that you cannot stand (dubious consent), reading romance stories with "European ambient" is probably not the the right choice.

However, the issue I take with the story is that it really doesn't hold any grand scheme of danger or anything. Because of Edna's past, there was at no point, any tension of her being in any real danger. Even when her secret about her past was revealed to people, everyone took it in stride and didn't add any point of tension to the story. The main villains are weak in their characters/their schemings. I actually can't find the translation of the novel, so maybe the novel flesh out everything better.

I would recommend just based on how strong of a female character Edna is (but only if you get past the beginning and accept the reality of the time period it is set in).
