Another Gold Std in Yakuza Yaoi
by 2old4yaoi

Rating: 10.0  / 10.0
I think this manga can definitely hold its own candle against Ayane Yamano's Finder series when it comes to Yakuza yaoi. The drawing of the characters might not be as pretty and the sex scenes are not as smutty but the story line is amazingly good. The psychological undertones behind the characters of Yashiro x Doumeiki are very fascinating - both souls are broken in their own way. Can the fact that both live & work in the violent world of crime syndications actually save their souls & bring them some happiness? I am enthralled as I await each installment of this story. I would definitely recommend any BL publisher to license this. It is a big winner.

Gritty and mature style

This manga is ridiculously good. I have always loved the gritty characters and subject matter that Yoneda Kou comes up with, but THIS manga in particular is just gorgeous. I love how she makes the reader work to figure out what the characters are thinking, because the two leads are so expressionless on the outside but you can tell the inside is in such tumult. The way Yoneda organizes the manga and the order in which she delivers information is flawless.

Long story short: read this manga if you love in-depth and intelligent stories!

Just Perfect

I don't know what to say... it's so suffocating, every time I read this manga my heart beats faster and sometimes I even cry 'cause I pity Yashiro. His character is so melancholy lonely I can't help but feel sorry for him. I hope he finally finds happiness.

Ridiculous.

It's hard to describe this series. It's complicated. Suffice it to say that, if you can take the unabashed kinkiness which our main character Yashiro comes with, take-it-or-leave-it-thank-you, you'll likely be mystified with how good this story is. There is wonderful depth of emotion, playfulness, the pain, and sparse prettiness infused in every line of this BL manga. Not to mention, the scanlators did a damn good job with it. Bravo!

This is a manga that won't tell you everything about yakuza but it is hard-hitting and deep. It stuck in my mind for quite a while.... In fact, I might have fallen in love with it. O: Now, try it out for yourself!

NB: Do not miss out on the prequels--they will show the humongous amount of thought that went into this character's story.

i just started reading this series as a whole (including the 2 prequels) and it left me wanting more. the characters are introduced in the prequels and this story is a great continuation to the introductions. its not the common yakuza story biggrin it is alluring because of the characters, and remains captivating by the drama and twists in events

truly a must read biggrin

Just awesome, not your average YAOI characters. This manga characters have depth and are flawed like real life people. I just love how even though their behavior isn't the most acceptable I can't dislike them, I just love Yashiro, I want him to find happiness, he deserves it. Chikara is the cool stoic character, which I also like very much ^-^ I just kept hoping he would stop being impotent while Yashiro was doing you know what to him o:
I want more chapter, need...to...read...more...*dies*

I recommend it, read it and the prequels too :3

Yoneda Kou!

Brilliant! Just Brilliant! Even though the prequels were just oneshots, it just conveyed so soo much of emotions. And now that we're in the present of Yashiro's life in this story with an entire volume and hopefully more ofcourse! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Its certaintly dramatic and dark with the lonesome protogonists but at some point I find it hilarious, Chikara stoic-ness and his sudden unintentional humour!

This is the first manga which I rated it a 10 only after reading two chapters wink
It is so different from the other yaois...
Yoneda Kou managed to transform a cliche yakuza theme into such a special story that makes me shiver at each new chapter.
The characters are just beautiful, the art is pure and their feelings are so powerful!
I am completely in love with this manga!

without the prequels

I think that people will rate this story higher if they have read the prequels first so that they could get a good grasp of how Yashiro thinks and what he's been through before this story, it also gives a good explanation of his actions in this manga. So far so good, I like how the story is progressing...

and one last thing, that cover photo is what really drew me in second to this manga being the top yaoi manga currently rated here in mangaupdates...I think it's really sexy wink

Well I won't repeat all the praises that have been done of this mangaka, I'll just say it's one of my favourite ones.
And so, to speak about this series, I really love the bitter-sweet tone there is. I love it when it's not only fluffy and rose-colored storylines, it makes the emotions stronger and the "happy" moments so much intense.
In this case, I like how Yashiro is wavered by Doumeki's character and begins to open himself to love even though he still thinks he can't have a normal relationship with anyone. It's very sweet in the way it's like they're licking each other's wounds.
I usually rate Yoneda's works at 10, but as this one isn't finished, I rated it at 9, cause I can't say it's perfect when I haven't read the end yet.
