It is very rare in MT to see something with with a 0% on the 1-5 range and even no 1 rating. It is a proof of how excellent this series is.

I'm looking forward to more of the mangaka's work.

For the first time in 15 years in reading manga online.. I'm compelled and looking forward when this becomes available in print, along with otoyomegatari

A Must-Read

Having read the one-shot before starting the rest of the serialization, I found it incredibly difficult to get through Ishida's bullying of Nishiyama a second time. But the story is absolutely worth it.

This story is about regret and growth. Ishida's story really resonates realistically and his burgeoning relationships with both Nishimiya sisters are awesome. 100% would recommend!

My english is not so good, but I just wanna say that this is a great manga.
It just gets better and better. I always want more of it. And it has a deep plot, and excellent charcacters.. one realizes that wants to know more about them about their future and about their past and how they connect each other.. and it makes you think of yourself of your life on how you see other people on how you reach other people..
I love this manga.
Its the first time I feel this way.
If you have time, read it, you wont regret it.

controversy?

I don't understand why this manga would stir controversy. Perhaps it struck too close to home for many readers... I can relate, but not in the usual route, since I was a bully myself in grade school. This story fills me with bitter nostalgia of the countless times I chose a path of ignorance, taking part in ostracizing those "different" from the norm. And now that I've grown older, wiser and turned into something of a loner, I can admit I feel the pain of the recipient's shoulders.

Whatever.

Not just the children, even the adults...

Not just the children are to blamed for the bullying, even the adults, in this case the classroom teacher, first he push all responsibilities to look after Shouko to another student girl, which resent this duty and become among the first to join in bullying Shouko. Secondly, each time Shouya was caught doing bullying, he just lightly reprimanded Shouya and give comment "Well, I know how you feel, though.", it was like giving a green light to Shouya actions. When is Shouya turn to be bully, all this homeroom teacher do is ignore it and said Shouya deserved it. Well, shitty teachers bringing up even more shittier students is Asian saying.

Serialisation - still wonderful

The start of serialization actually deals deeper with the lives of kids around Nishimiya. It's not like we just plainly get her bullying story expanded. We get the opportunity to know better, from where does bullying come, which issues can cause kids to go bully. The problem is really complex, and the author tries to look at it from all kinds of angles now.
Next, we return at the point where we left boy and girl at the end of oneshot. What will he do? What new impacts will he receive, how will his life and worldview change (again)? What are the backgrounds of Nishimiya's life and what does she endure every day? The story involves more and more details, and though oneshot was a fully completed little shiny gem, what we get now is a wide and complex picture. And who knows what will next parts of it show us. Because "it's life".

yes, i think this manga shouldn't be serialized.
the story is soooo dragged sad
and I did feel boring at some point.

as for the oneshot, i think it's one of the best out there.

Worth reading

I can only recommend it, the plot its great, the art doesn't stand very much, average ill say, but the story its great, in scale from 1 to 10 on 'real life situations' ill give it a 9.

This is what its happening in most schools around the globe. Crude, real, just kids bullying kids for been "different".
I wish this was a serialized series, but i guess been a one shot its part of what make it so amazing and yet so real.

Great Oneshot

I've read many stories described as being realistic and been disappointed, because they weren't. This isn't one of them. This oneshot possesses a sense of verisimilitude I rarely see. The pacing and characterization are also excellent. The art could be better, but it's good enough to tell the story and I rarely confused characters for one another.

I wouldn't say it doesn't have re-readability. I would say I wouldn't read it many times in a row. My heart just couldn't take it.

I haven't read the serial, but if it isn't an interquel or sequel, then I doubt it'd be as good as the oneshot.

So this story couldnt be published because of a lawsuit due to its subject matter? Bullying is only hidden by those who cant admit to yet another ugly face that society has.read till the end,the face doesnt always stay the same.
