The school suggestion box; an object that is commonly existent in manga and anime, as well as in the manga Medaka Box. Most of the time, such detail is barely important, which is also true here. Seeing as that is not important, let me throw that aside and explain what to expect from this manga. Simply put, be ready to flip the pages to a tedious, boring manga with extremely long and pointless explanations.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a student at Hakoniwa Academy. At the start of the manga, Hitoyoshi vaguely introduces the character, Kurokami Medaka, the student council president of Hakoniwa Academy, as to what kind of being she is. Without a doubt, a complete monster. Such can be said for the majority of the characters in the manga, Medaka Box, as well. Apparently, this manga is an episodic manga, that eventually turns into an action manga. Sadly, I have not read up to such a point.

From the beginning of Medaka Box, the outer appearance of the manga is a story with decent jokes, only to be shrouded with horrendously long details beside that. I do not comprehend as to why the author of this manga has to stretch the length of the jokes at all. This basically ruins the joke. Putting comedy aside, you basically have an episodic manga. What else is there in this "story"? Well... I actually don't know.

The characters can be considered a good point in Medaka Box, as well as a bad point. In Medaka Box, characters are unique in a way, but the ability to display them is mediocre. In every character introduction, we are given a large amount of information about a single person. In a way, this is great, although, giving us useless information is not. Continuing it with a long summary of the character with 100 words spread over 2 or 3 pages, instead of the possible 40 in a half page or one page, is also not. My favorite part of the characters is somewhat of what I said before, the uniqueness of the characters. Shown as having superhuman abilities, nearly every recurring character is unique in a way. Although Medaka Box can be displayed as being a story with a majority of the characters being unrealistic, at this point, such is a spark of light.

Now then, the art. The art is wonderful. Well-drawn characters, as well as backgrounds and details in art is included in such. In the entire manga known as Medaka Box, this detail is the greatest. Going from regular facial expressions to abnormally unusual facial expressions, you can easily tell what a character is thinking.

What else is there to say? Well, on first impression, I disliked this manga. As of now? I still dislike it. I have never been a fan of Nisio Isin, and would not be surprised to hear opinions being biased of Medaka Box due to the extremely high reputation of his. I have read twelve chapters of this manga so far, and before someone tells me to "read up to chapter 92, then express your opinion," I would like to know something. Who in their right mind would read eleven volumes of a tedious and boring manga just to be able to call it "good"?

I read up to v10 and i quit, the climax just only with punch, you cant see something cool like shidenseen skill from gamaran or susano from itachi. because the end will just punch with super power migty suddenly appear. and after arc, all the enemy will be friend. it's anoying. after mass murder or crushing some school or rampage bloody hell from the victim, the enemy in the end will be friend. and the sin just gone. it's just your satisfy not fill in.

**a few Small spoilers warning**

at first i really liked this manga,even though i had some problems with the lead characters, i thought the story and characters were unique and the abilities were really inventive and well thought out, but roughly after the Kumagawa and minus 13 arc things went super down hill. the story makes no sense at all any more, the genre keeps changing like from action to trivia to some music shit and just every thing is getting more ridiculous. But besides all that my main problem is Medaka and Zenkichi, medaka first because her character is too damn ridiculous and majorly unfair to all the other characters, her ability should be "i never lose" because thats exactly what happens. who wants a main character whose always stronger than every one and is unbeatable, it sucks. i really dislike her character now.
Next is Zenkichi, i like his character but he is almost the opposite of medaka, hes too weak and unimportant. i felt like he would be one of the main battle characters and stand in medakas level eventually but hes still one of the weaker ones and in terms of importance he needs to stand out way more and stop riding on medakas co-tails all the time. all in all i want to remember this manga for chapters 1-92 and its art, before every thing goes to shit. you know what never mind i think this is my fault, i took this manga seriously as a good Shounen manga but now i will just look at it as a insane gag manga

The first half of the manga was great; i couldn't wait for it to be translated every week, but now it's just turned into some weird stuff and it just plain stupid although it not entirely bad it seems like it's trying to hard to be something it's not.

Edit now that its over i have to say it turned out to be horrible. Read the first half then quit. Its becomes a huge mess after ch 80-90

1. what most people have failed to notice is that it is a good thing that the genre keeps changing because it means that the story as a whole can develop, for instance look at dragon ball it is a shounen battle, super power anime and 5 or 6 hundred episodes later nothing has really changed, the bosses has gotten harder, their are some new characters and the explosions are bigger but it's really just the same medaka box however does't do that it changes so you don't get the same thing as all the time
2. people who dislike it because it's confusing are clearly morons and not because of they don't get it but because of they don't realise that it's supposed to be cryptic and confusing so it's more interesting that way, face it you where reading V for vendetta and it just tolled you exactly what happened to V in the past you would lose interest, the interest is in the mystery.
3. people who say it's exaggerated read the second paragraph and tell me their is't subtly in this manga.

This manga is trying to do everything by brute force.
The elements that are supposed to be comedy aren't, because they get rubbed in your face like a sign that reads "laugh now".
The same goes for the totally unnecessary ecchi scenes (sidenote: l2draw breasts if you want to give them 120cm racks), the plot, and, to an extent, the characters.
Speaking of characters, this is what I found to be the only good point in the manga, they are quite diverse, but in the end, get used up so fast that very few are memorable.
Another point is, at times it tries to make sense by explaining stuff, but only moments later comes up with some bullshit that invalidates what was previously explained, coming up with ridiculous stuff that ignore's the rules it set for itself.

Bottom line: I can see what they are trying to do, they took elements from many popular genres, and ridicule them by pushing them over the top of what you usually see.
But too much of something is almost never a good thing, and this manga just proves it.

Just for comparison, Gintama does everything what Medaka Box is trying to do, only better, and not so much over the top that it hurts itself.

At some random point in this manga, you're going to come across chapters and chapters of something you just don't find interesting at all. It's not that it isn't funny, likable, kinda silly, and amusingly parody-like. It is. It's just also boring. The author creates new characters like they're made from machines. It's a testament to his character creation skills that I can even still recognize most of them, but it's also repetitive and actually kind of annoying (because I don't care about them all that much.)

Like another commentor noted, I'd like more Zenkichi. He is honestly the most likable character there, and he also takes back-seat a lot, even though he's technically pretty much the second person we meet in the story. And to be honest, he's one of the few in the main cast who isn't just over-the-top strange, and I think it's a shame he's not more prominent, because it might balance out Medaka, who by now is just kind of dripping Mary Sue. She was always kind of on the edge to begin with, but her personality and occasional touches of humanity negated that very well, which was part of what was so good about this manga in the first place. But now... she's a virtuous saint with nearly invincible powers and not much else. Disappointing.

So back to my main point; in some chapter or other, you're probably going to be like "You know what, I no longer care" and just drop this manga. I started skipping chapters around the Amazing Battle Manga bits... I know, I know, I should plow on more and get to the amazing parts everyone assures me are to come, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It's probably one of the perils of being as cross-genre as it is.

one word one of the best manga that i have read end im quit picky plus there kinda rushing through the arcs so they can have a long running anime yeah i said it anime there is gonna be an anime of medaka box next year around spring cant wait

She said, "Life is Epic" and what I thought was "Manga is Epic". Especially this manga. That may seem arrogant but I've loved this manga for how it was hard to understand and completely grasp. Frankly, it got boring at some point because the story did feel too pushed in a strange way. Then it got back up and for like, 40~50 chapters 'till the end it was non-stop Epic. NisioisiN is absolutely a genius, though he pushes it a little sometimes.

Oh yea, and Medaka being impossible to beat is probably what kept this manga together. I can see why it would annoy people (it angered me too), but damn, had she fallen even once on this run, the whole plot would have started falling apart. Because, except by some lame and cliche get-back-up-and-train (or some sh*t like that) chapters, the whole suggestion box would have lost its meaning. anyway, Medaka would have lost it.

In fact, Medaka is probably what you could wall the central pillar of the manga. She was made to be so important that as soon as she loses, the manga goes to its end.

Now, love is in the air, I guess we should have only a few chapters to go. maybe only one. Was Epic, loved it.
