Getting draggy EDIT: Holy crap that ending.

Liked this series at the start, enjoyed it through around 200 chapters before the story dragged longer and longer until I've put this series on hold for the past year or so checking in once in a while. Seems the time travelling arc is still going strong unfortunately. Why must so many shounen series drag on longer than it should? People say mangakas do it for the money, but if they're not under contractual obligation by their publishers to stretch a series to death then they should end it after a good run, then start a new series. If their manga was so well recieved as to run for so long anyways then I'm sure their fanbase will be happy with whatever new series they start and money will still come in. It feels as if many of these shounen mangakas fear their work is going to be a one trick pony so they have to make it last, but this just makes their image worse and supports any allegations/notions of them being such ponies.

I hope this current arc will be the last/second to last as Wakaki sensei has had more than enough time to make a complete and good series.

EDIT: And he ends it with a shitty ending. Of all the endings possible he chooses the semi-side character girl as the hero's chosen love interest? Hell even a harem ending would have been better. After all the crap he and the main goddesses girls went through he rejects them all and actively seeks to push them away from him. What a jerkass.

Amazing ...though requires an open mind sometimes

I've pretty much been following this manga since forever ago, and I must say it is a true masterpiece among shounen manga. Nowadays I follow very few shounen mangas because many of them are pretty much the same things with different formats ....but TWGOK is different. As others have stated, the setting is pretty cliched (a harem with some anti-social fellow getting a lot of girls), but the actual plot and protagonist are very unique: the guy is NOT just some passive douchebag waiting for girls to fall out of the sky for him, but rather an actual genius (albeit a very irritating one sometimes) that comes to truly care and make great efforts to conquer the girls he comes across, and not for his own pleasure (he hates 3D girls), but out of necessity and, eventually, actual empathy. That, and many other aspects of this story make it unusually ellegant for a shounen manga.

Now I say it requires an open mind mostly because of the latest story arc: it really deviates a lot from the premise of the series and becomes much less of a comedy while turning pretty serious. You start seeing things like actual deaths and real violence occasionally, and the whole conquering girls part seems to have been (most likely) put on hold for the time being. After reading some of the latest reviews, it seem this has put off many fans. I personally think it's a wonderful development that ties in very well with the story as a whole and follows up on many little things hinted at beforehand, while also showing a lot of character development. And it's not like the story's permanently changed course either ...this last arc seems to be close to its end and a lot of comedy is resurfacing.

Sorry if this seemed too long ...I just really like this manga and would advice everyone to try it sometime.

At first, Particularly, Romance in Shounen isn't a Major genre. some people would rather pick a shojou if they want a nice, good, sweet, romance manga. i've already read a bunch of shounen manga which contain a romance as a main genre, some popular shounen romance manga always pick a poor, hopeless, idiotic, pervert male protagonist, over that there is some manga which just sell a meaningless ecchi, maybe thats why some people pick romance shoujo over a shounen romance.

TBH i don't hate ecchi, if its appear not to much, its realy good and a plus point to make.. c'mon people! its shounen, the Fan Service is always, plus the sub genre like harem should have some "ecchi".. but i think, if its too much "the dish will be too salty". so thats why i dont realy like pervert/hopeless protagonist which always caught in some ecchi scenes with their harem..

I found The Protagonist in this TWGOK Series is realy UNIQUE, he isn't hopeless, he isn't dumb, he isn't pervert, and on top on that he is a GENIUS..

actualy, Genius Male Lead is mostly often found in Shojou manga, to think that we find a genius male lead in shounen romance its a rare..

And of course i couldn't get enough to think how brilliant the author is, tamiki wakaki sensei throw an outstanding fresh plot in every chapter, the plot always make me excited to read, and always makes me shouting "woah.. woah..." when i read a new realeased chapter..
i'm never get bored to read again and again..

some people throw a doubt in their comment, but 'til now i'm never see the doubt become real..
the author always exceed the expetation..

This is masterpiece, so i dont have any reason to not recommend you to read this manga..

Brilliant !!!!

The series has no ending coming. Even if the current arc (till chapter 220) is solved, there is no perspective for an ending. A good story has beginning, middle part and an ending. But this one has only a beginning and the middle part has no end. So the good feeling from the beginning has turned sour.

The art is fast drawn, cheap manga style. No eye candy at all. But you get used to it.

The comedy is nice and well placed, especially in the first arc. The second arc has almost much fewer comedy, maybe because the story gets more sinister. I personally totally dislike the second arc, in my point of view it is only big BS, but this is my opinion. The characters are in the first arc well made. Second arc is only something boring on the character side, nothing really new or refreshing. After all things this second arc is about one person who saves the whole earth, there is no room besides the hero.

If you don't mind to read a never ending story (at least 220 chapters) than you can give it a try. But the second arc of this manga is disappointing.

I was a big fan until
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the mangaka pulled this time travelling arc out of nowhere. Personally, I really dislike time travelling, because it's often done improperly. This unfortunately, is no exception
. It's an odd blend of supernatural and sci-fi that just doesn't cut it for me and makes me just hope for this particular arc to end sooner rather than later.

So, I've been following TWGOK since around its inception, and it hasn't yet managed to "wow" me or anything of the sort, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a horrible manga.

TWGOK is definitely just a romantic, harem comedy. It's certainly a better-than-average romantic, harem comedy in that its main character and all the other side characters are all fairly likable (or, at least, not headache-inducing), but if you don't like these types of genres, TWGOK will not change your mind.

All of the characters are completely static characters. There's really no development whatsoever. Most of them are also one-adjective caricatures that are interesting to watch, but, in real life, obviously would not exist. The plot is like a typical shounen: the mangaka makes up new arcs as he goes along. Again, all fairly standard stuff.

In short, TWGOK is enjoyable enough for a light read, but, really, if you're looking for something more substantial, you probably won't find it here.

The best Romantic Comedy Manga Ever

No contest actually, this series has beaten my most favorite romantic comedy manga before I read TWGOK : Love Hina .

By the way: If you already watched the anime, but have yet to read the manga. Seriously, read this manga. The manga completely blew the anime version of TWGOK out of the water.
I read the manga first before I watched the anime, so I know how the anime can't capture the "feel" when you read the manga, and there are so much detailed explanation that has been missing from anime scene which you can only find in manga, and also they cut so much scene from manga, so in sort, please read the manga.

I need to remind you that I probably have read countless romantic comedy manga, but there's none of them that actually have something that only TWGOK had:
1. Anti social main character, and genius at the same time.
2. Explaining things in detailed manner on how the girls brain and hearts really work together. It's like dissecting rat on your biology lab for scientific purpose. Thats how the general feel you get when you read this. So there's a logic behind every conversation, not just mindless numbing conversation about the girls emotions, but also with the purpose behind it and what domino effect will it have to your goal.
3. If you are a fan of tokimeki memorial , or similar genre that has a girls dialog to capture her in video games, this is a must read manga for you.
4. I'm a hardcore Gundam UC fans, and if you are like me, you will also probably like this because it's very obvious the mangaka liked Gundam UC too because there are so many insider "the first Gundam" joke on this manga, and I find it hillarious.
