This manga would be a solid 9 if it didn’t get on my nerves on a lot of issues. What I am about to write is more of a personal opinion rather than a recommendation.

The good:Very good character development.Although the manga had a lot of characters it managed to depict them well.
The plot was interesting overall, nothing too original but it’s one of those stories that the characters make the story and not the opposite which usually happens. Then why give it just a 6?Firstly I rate normally and not how this database does where a bad manga has an average of 7 and secondly due to the following.

The bad:The reason is the main baka duet. All the other side characters had a far more interesting personality than those two. So,if you don’t like your protagonists in a character driven story, it’s a given that the manga drops on your standards especially since the side characters made a late appearance. In the first volume it was amazingly fast and without a clear good reason(it’s explained at the end but it was still fast) how Yuu,from a dark personality became a pillar of support for the princess. That sudden change of heart and his ambiguous stance towards other beast warriors (especially the snake warrior) don’t make him much likeable in the first place. The two first volumes seem to move pretty fast. Also the princess would destroy the biscuit hammer which would destroy the earth so as to destroy the earth herself! Illogical?Yes indeed.Seriously, at the beginning i thought it was a metaphor or sth.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Also add the fact that one of the best characters sacrificed himself to save Yuu,and instead of healing himself he chose to pass his powers to Yuu.Probably because he saw a vision, and he gave them away so as Yuu deals with the princess at the end. Also the reaction of that character’s brother towards his death was nonexistent.

So a bad first impression on the first 2 volumes. Then the manga became a lot better, mainly because the baka duet had less screen time, until the last chapters (excluding the last) where I was disappointed. The classic shounen fighting elements also made their appearance:sudden overpower in this occasion.I think the story would have gone much better if the princess didn’t want to save the earth so as to destroy it herself. But unfortunately the main theme resolves in that the princess is still an egoistic child.Whatever bad happened to the characters eventually, besides Animus comes down to her.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Although the author fabricated that she was actually ill and that is why she wanted to destroy it.A consequence to her egoistical behavior was mentioned in the previous spoiler. Also her egoism is obvious when she tells Yuu to go see his grandfather and she instead avoids her mother.

So,to sum up I feel sad about what happened with the other beast warriors, and unfortunately the princess’ drama with the consequences that it brought upon was not to my cup of tea…So,overall good in the middle but borderline it the beginning and ending chapters(excluding the last one).

A marvel disguised

This is not a goofy story for only little kids, it's not your typical gang-saves-world shounen, not a manga that banks on the genre's cliches as a shortcut to success, and its females will not bring down the wrath of the feminist movement by being helpless eyecandy.

The premise is a bit silly but that is eclipsed by the marvelous cast of characters. In short, this manga spins a tale that has a balanced blend of lighthearted humor, action, and human depth so that it remains refreshing until the end (i hope. I'm only ch 30).

I always bypassed this manga when I was reading because I thought, "The cover looks like a stupid cliche manga". It looks just like a predictable shounen manga--- and then I read it.
IT'S REALLY GOOD.
I'm so glad I read it; it's sweet, random, funny, and action packed at the same time! The art's not bad, and it even has a few hints of deep meanings in there. At the least, it will never be predictable!

Don't be turned off by that "tragedy" tag... unless you count the good guys winning and the bad guys losing as "tragedy."

This is hands-down an amazing manga. The mangaka took the seemingly overused Good vs. Evil megabattle and created a unique, beautiful, and exhilarating story for his readers. There are sad parts (as there should be) but they are balanced by equally exciting funny parts, surprising parts, and heartwarming parts. Mizukami-sensei knew what he was doing when he wrote this and it shows. DEFINITELY not a story to skip over.

Not your typical shonen manga. This one is GREAT!

Awesome characters (especially the heroine). As you expect of a anti-hero manga, the main character protect the earth in order to savor it and destroy it herself.

I love how the main male character being completely disagree with the idea of protecting the earth, but completely fall in love with his princess as soon as he find out that the princess want to 'have' earth as her possession.

Pretty entertaining, without unnecessary filler. Just nice action, great character development, awesome concept, memorable characters, and cute art. Definitely one of my favorites.

If u are looking for nice art, good character development, funny & sad moments, you should definitely give it a try. The fights are more shounen then seinen, but it just fits perfectly with the setting of rescuing the world. In my opinion one of the best manga ever.

Other reviews are likely to note the superb plot, memorable characters, beautiful artwork, or even the unexpected twists, yet I'm going to point out the abilities. Each person in this story possesses a unique ability that is neither overbearingly strong or simplistic in nature. Each represents the nature of the wielder and even develops accordingly. These abilities are much more than simple powers; they carry emotions whether it be rage, destructiveness, longing, or resentment. To put simply, the abilities compliment the story and are just one of the countless reasons why I recommend this series to my friends.

Began well: Something exceptional, unique characters, decent background creation. Especially heroine seemed interesting, and wondered how things would keep on / develop with her and Yuuhi.

...and after a while this became your typical shounen. I found Bokurano to be really simillar (and wayyyyy better btw), tho emphasizing more

death and despair
than this one focusing more on romance, and... fighting spirit~
Hoshi no Samidare contained some really nice, usually 1-2 cell scenarios tho.

Warning: ending spoiler:

I really really hoped that the Earth would've been destroyed instead of typical lovey dovey "it's a small world" everyone important but the "final boss" survives-ending.
You can pretty much see the whole ending coming from the "general atmosphere" of the manga.

Almost regret wasting time on this. If it was worse, I would've dropped it instead of finishing it.
--> It's a DECENT read imo.

Only 65 chapters.

Only 65 chapters, and yet...
More depth. More character. More epic. More adventure. More intelligence. More emotion. More eloquence. More savagery. More comedy. More drama. More tragedy. More joy.
...than any series twelve times its size.

It began with a wondrous start, it took us on a journey of wonder, and it concluded with a wonderful end.
I feel that if I try to describe Hoshi no Samidare, it can only fall short of how I truly feel about this series, and of course the pure quality and excellence of this series.
I think that maybe the best words I could use to describe The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer are just one word.

Perfect.

it doesnt really explore too much on the action and plot, but on the stories of each character. Yes there are many characters.

it is really great. Compared to other manga of the same theme, this one is very funny and awesome. Art is good. Samidare is cute to the very end.

In the end, you get to love each character.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Master has one of the best stories. Plus, his words are already awesome.
