Description
Jin, a mysterious kid with a halo carved in his hand, and extraordinary fighting skills, lives with his grandfather in a beggar's community. In other place, the old scientist Amagi is searching for professor Kanzaki, to ask him for the whereabouts of the "player" -a kind of genetic altered humans- Zet, which they created some years ago. Soon, Jin and his grandfather are attacked by a mysterious man who turns into a monster.
The connection between professor Amagi and professor Kanzaki, seems to connect also young Jin to the mystery of the "players" and Zet.

I liked VGA and I''s much better, thosetwo were like the only shoujo i ever read.
This is like an attempt for a "1 character shonen with serious storyline." Those fail. good 1 character shonens with serious storylines do not exist.
If this was maybe a seinen, and concentrated more on storyline and themes witha mature main character, then it'd be good. Or if a larger variety of unique characters were offered with humor mixed in, then it'd be good. But this guy tried something in between, which is...unheard of.
I hope Masakazu should really try and go for a slice-of-life thing. Instead of concentrating on storyline, he should concentrate on character relationships, which he was pretty good at.

Well it showed a LOT of promise at the start; but never lived up to it in the 6 volumes I've read of it.
Im not gonna state the obvious and say that the art is awesome; oh damn I just did.
Oh well, check it out if you like superhero-type stories with a mature style.
Just dont expect too much in terms of coherent storytelling.

I agree with what Anonymous said (who gave this 6/10).
This series starts out REALLY good, but then when they switched main chracters, it just goes downhill from there. You'd be wondering what the hell's going on, and such.
It starts going downhill from chapter 31 (volume 3), although you won't notice it right away. Chapter 30 also starts out the same (frame by frame, for 13 pages) as chapter 64.
It starts to get better again around chapter 64 (volume 6), where it connects to the first story and main character again.

Zetman is an odd thing. As with the author's other manga, the story seems to be jumping a lot of back and forth, with no clear direction. It starts off in the future, then goes back a number of years, following one character, skips ahead a few years, and after a while, changes to another character and follow him for a number of volumes, and by the end of volume 5, it still hasn't caught up to the time period it started in in volume one, nor have we seen what would appear to be the main character for two and a half volumes.
Furthermore, there is a lot of unnecessary violence. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoy violence in manga, but the way it's portrayed in Zetman is just perverted. It's basically guro, with a lot of attractive girls, usually high school girls, getting shot in the head, getting their heads smashed open, or being cut in half, while others get drugged and raped. It's primarily an annoyance, since it seems to detract from the manga, and since it serves no other purpose than to satisfy the author's perverted sexual fetish.
As always, the art is very nice, but I wish the author would take a couple of writing classes, or get someone else to write for him. It's just never been his strong side.

I never thought the mangaka of I''s (which is my favorite romance manga) could make such a good shounen. It's definitely between my favorites, but it would be better if someone scanlated the chapters faster...
i am a person that won give high rating b4 i see it's ending. But certainly this series have a promosing storyline n great art. So far so good but we will never know wat will happen if it has a great or a crapist ending so just wait and see. Plz dun make quick assume.
really enjoying it for now; not that much to read untill now.. But whats out is very good and shows lots of promise. And offcourse Katsura's art is jus gorgeous.
you must read it.
Finally, Masakazu Katsura came out with a series that have a cool leading hero. Only read until Vol 2, Chap 17. So far, very YUMMY.
