Although I would slightly disagree with the poster below me. No, you don't and shouldn't change your person when you're in love, but if it's a good sort of love, it'll bring out parts of you you didn't know existed, broaden your worldview, and sharpen your mind. Love -ought- to change you a little. Also hopefully, if you're in a long-term relationship, you grow up and mellow out. I'd hate to still be the same person I was in secondary school.

That said, though, I do agree with the whole depowermenting independant-heroines-can-no-longer-live-without-a-man shoujo trope. Bleh. Not only is it gross, but it's not even any fun to read about.

As for being strong or being soft, being strong isn't the same as being abrasive. Misaki is abrasive in the beginning of the manga, and I'm pretty sure she's supposed to be transitioning to strong. I haven't read it in awhile and can't speak for how well that's been working out. I do remember getting rather annoyed at all the blushing scenes. I swear there was a solid year when you couldn't go a chapter without several blushing scenes. It got old.

But I'm giving it a 10 for nostalgia's sake.

this manga is one that i recommended to my friends but now im so dissapointed with the latest chapters. at first it's a good opening with tsundere misaki that has strong personality and has no fear among the boys and even she handles to be a council president and i love usui that could make misaki insulted and flirted her with his jokes and how awesome misaki to be cool man and make usui amazed to her. it's sooooo good , even though they have no an exact relationship at least the reader cpuld see how strong their relationship. i was so happy with this manga until usui and misaki started going out. few chapter after vol 7 is just BLEH. kiss here and there all chapters has their kiss moment and what i think is: IS THIS SMUT MANGA I WONDER and when i thought it's time for misaki to shine (im pretty looking forward for her past that makes her hate men so much) and thisbut then after im waiting so long.. i cant find any hint that will show that misaki's past will be told so i made a conclusion that this manga manga is ONLY oriented to usui, even though misaki is the main character. to be honest, because of that i started to hate this manga that like boasting only usui that's just too perfect that makes it so boring afterward. misaki as the main character is just too tsundere and in newest chapters i am completely annoyed with her who always blushing when she is with usui. i want old misaki come back. i dont want story about usui usui usui anymore. getting tired. im gonna drop this series.

I,too, remember when i was reading like 'OMG what's gonna happen next??!!!!' and it was irritating to wait for the next page to appear! When i arrived around chapter 50, i kinda got less time to read mangas, but now i have plenty of time and when i re read it, it became boring and cliched!
Misaki was a strong female character, but is no more! She blushes here and there IN EVERY CHAPTER! and it gets damn annoying!!! seriously, there's a limit of how much you can blush in a chapter -.-
Usui was cool and hot before but now, usui is like MR PERFECT! Geez, you see guys like that in almost all shoujo mangas! He too blushes too much!

I remember when Usui left a mark on Misaki's back so that she could not wear a swimsuit. I was like 'Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~ *dies of fangasm*' but now it has no effect
Also, why must they kiss in almost every chapter !! it makes it kinda annoying
Too much blushies, kisses, I Love You's etc
I dropped it....

All in all, just like almost all shoujos, it went up and up and suddenly fell down to restart.

I was actually excited when I see Misaki as a strong and smart female lead. She's cool and gives me sooo much hope with her character,her character didn't change even till the last chapter (65)..but I hate the fact that she became weak when it comes to Usui. Also,Usui was really perfect that it annoys me,I prefer Misaki to be with You-kun.
Geh,dropped it on chapter 35.
It has lots of great scenes,and good potentials. I just can't stand the characters. Their slow romance doesn't feel real. She fell for him because he's kind,caring,sweet,smart,always protects her,and another perfect personalities blah blah but that's it.. and I thought that this is gonna be good so I kept reading it. Usually I would go all "OMG! OMG! FOR REAL! KYAA!" when it comes to kiss scene but when they kissed I continued reading till the next chapter with a damn straight face.

Why is it that almost all mangas were like this. At first the girl was bad-ass then the guy came,teased her,helped her,blah blah blah and then she became soooo weak and depends on that guy a lot.
Geh. I'd say I prefer Penguin Brothers,though the ending wasn't really satisfying but I kind of understand why the mangaka did that.

I liked the idea and the art (I don't read a manga unless the art is good) however the fact that Usui is "Mr. Perfect" and that Misaki has always to rely on him for help is getting old. Also the charatcers need more development. It's not bad but not good either.

all decent manga are on hiatus or something like that...
but i dont fell like this is an really shoujo-ish manga...
its such an cute light read =]

i really enjoied to read this...i dont has a lot of confidence to talk 'bout shoujo manga...
but if u want a light read that its a little bit of cliche...even if is some sort of cheap 'romeo & julieta'

and about the negative coments about this manga...
if u ask me...the heroine is the usual shounen heroine...the epic "Tsundere"
its unusual to have tsundere on shoujo?...i think that's the cause that ppl dont like her
but reading shounen for so long... made me think i'm immune to it.

Positive: This manga is a really gorgeous shoujo manga. I love the main character's personality...that was what drew me in. It's funny, cute, romantic, and has beautiful art. The suspnese is really getting in for the recent chapter (50). =D And the main leads make a really good couple.

Negative: It's obvious And even though Usui's heartbreakingly gorgeous, it bothers me how he is perfect. I almost really do think he's an alien! XD

seriously, i don't know how to say how i REALLY enjoyed this manga. i can't believe i just read it though i keep seeing it on most 'lately popular manga'. wow! so a lot of people enjoyed it like i do, but i think i'm worse. i have my prelims ahead and i just can't stop reading until i'm deprived like you have to chain my whole body away from the pc. i seriously need some help out there. i usually comment on the plot, characters, art, impact and feel. but i just don't feel like it. out of words. simply, a manga that make me go crazy for it. anyway, if you're into anti-procrastination-and-hello-temptation then don't read or you're dragged to an impossible-to-break magnet imo. i enjoyed it!!!!!!!! super. i'm just lazy to comment more. i'll just give my *thumbs up*

i won't mind if you don't mind... i happen to be a president and that's just something i've become-you know barbaric tyrant to guys, defender of girls, divine feminist, and a man-hater to say. speak of not-having-a-big-brother complex, we're five girls and still it's really not enough to say that girls with similar situation as mine would end up like misaki. to experience something the protagonist is... is something that has given me the taste of reality the manga emanates. it's really different to experience it at hand and that's what has kept me reading.misaki is just the kind of person who endures. how long will she be protecting girls? me? i don't want to hold a responsibility any longer. resigned and succumb to being a mediocre. that's just the coward kaichou our school HAD.
is this really what i call out of words? tch! what an idiot! like hell i care..!

i should say.. dense people are simply not malicious. allowing malice to break down your wall is same as allowing yourself to fall in love... so misaki is just thinking of work to nullify the harassments that creates malice. a great strategy to avoid love?

this plot really reminds me of special a, with some differences. I like how the girl can take care of herself and how when usui's being idiotish his face looks really funny and he always teases yukimura- in that way usui's funnier than takishima in special a in my opinion. I think it's a really good manga overall

At first, It think the story development wasn't so good because of Misaki's denseness. But after chapter 15 to now, the story becomes more interesting and the author adds some more thriller in the manga like Usui's mysterious past and their romance development. i also want to say that the plot is very good and it's very rare to see the story veering.
Some people say that the story is a cliche one but I think it's more than a cliche story, not in a particular shoujo way. (Well, we'll wait to see more chapters furthermore).
