Description
Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the "Medaka Box." Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone.
Since Medaka won the Student Council elections with a staggering 98% of the vote, she ends up as the Council's only member. First I thought the female lead is one of those stereotypical arrogant queens. But that's definitely not the case. She is unselfish and treats the others kindly and respectfully. She is also very skilled. The guy is okay but not interesting. Medaka IS the good point of this manga and the reason I'll keep reading this.
After reading through the oneshot chapter, I could only think of Haruhi and how she directs Kyon in her daily whims. Medaka is basically a Haruhi that isn't a God, but is still strong-willed and irrational. Zenkichi also surprised me because I thought he would just be Medaka's weak, male counterpart that was somehow still important. It turns out that he is much more complex then that, and certainly not weak. A must read.
For an ecchi manga, it has a very unique story. For once, the female protagonist is not one of those helpless females that fawn over the male lead but vice versa. The female lead has a strong personality who apparently excels at mainly everything and it is apparent why the main protagonists like each other because of the positive qualities they both possess, not because of idiotic reasons. The romance is well understood unlike in most ecchi mangas where one questions "why in the world does the girl like a stupid guy like him" or vice versa.
This isn't quite bad, especially for a manga in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The artwork is simply good, with different characters for a change, a nice plot and some pacing in addition to some good scenes.
I really hope this has a fighting chance with the rest of the mangas serialized in WSJ. It'll be a shame if this manga gets cut so soon.

well the art is quite good but story wise the first chapter seemed to much like a oneshot i wouldn't mind if this series ended with chapter one. but this is really just an echified version of Yankee-kun to Megane-chan and with the main female being perfect. plus the authors attempt at humor fails but ill read a couple more chapter before deciding if i should add this to my list
