Amazing art, one of the best ecchi manga out there, but it becomes quite repetitive and stale after half the volumes

As a teenager when this came out, I could not finish it. It really creeped me out. Hearing my male peers talk about it as if it was an extremely great work was both creepy and disappointing as I saw their attitudes change in a way that objectified others.

As far as ecchi goes, I liked the concept and MOST of the characters I found enjoyable. However it's no surprise to me this was discontinues the main character Rito will go down in history as the worst MC to ever grace an official manga. And the Only unenjoyable female character was his primary love interest Haruna.
Both of them were written as spineless to make it a slow romance but it just made them insufferable and annoying. I found myself wishing that Haruna would get killed off just so we could move on and am now enjoying NTR doujinshi based off this, and I usually hate NTR.

People who read ecchi harem should not expect something more than what it offer. And that is exactly what "To Love Ru" and "To Love Ru Darkness" is.
People who read To Love Ru but demand story or something more from To Love Ru Darkness really need a slap in the face and probably a punch too. The manga never take itself seriously it serve as light romance, full on harem and ecchi. The author deliver exactly that, and man YABUKI Kentaro really do great job drawing the ecchi and plump-ness of the girl.
All and all, I enjoy this immensely, ignore all that butt hurt and overly harsh critic read this if you want ecchi, harem with no drama, a bit of comedic and light story manga.
I'm gonna miss this manga.

Great art but poor plot

Kentaro Yabuki's art is impressive as always, it's a shame that he's now more focused on the loli style. On the other hand, the argument is poor and at times absurd. And let's face it guys, Momo really don't care about Rito's opinion regarding the harem plan and all she has done is to satisfy her own lust, arguing that she seeks to "the happiness of all the girls around the boy." So if we had to choose a nickname for Momo, it would certainly be: The little slut from Deviluke. The popularity of this series is due to the large amount of fanservice.
I didn't like it. I didn't hate it.

The girls are not interesting without jealousy.
The male lead should be a female because he has no balls.
There is absolutely no story, no arcs, nothing, just pictures with bubbles and words.
It's not my cup of tea..

The art, especially in the colored version, is absolutely beautiful. But don't read it for the story, there isn't any, apart from an episodic one centered around a harem.
I think this story is basically a huge fan service ending to the first manga.

I really enjoyed To Love-Ru when I read it a couple years back. The series was pretty formulaic, but I still managed to find it humorous + enjoyable from time to time. Although the ending was very unfulfilling, I was overjoyed to have found the sequel days later. It gave me "hope" for Rito finally being able to develop his relationships with the girls interested in him, but I was dead wrong...
They had 150+ chapters in the first series to have the characters get into awkward, yet comedic situations. It's been about 50 chapters with this sequel, and just about nothing has changed at all. Actually, I feel like the sequel has managed to regress if anything, given how there's a lot more nudity than comedy, plus the two heroines (Lala + Haruna) from the last series are barely side-characters, and now just make "guest appearances" instead. I'm pretty sure Rito failed to confess to these specific girls at the end of the first series, so... Why has he practically forgotten about his love for them?!
Rito's just a nice guy that's clumsy and innocent. There isn't anything else that comes to mind about him, and it's a shame that they can't properly develop his character in the sequel... Otherwise, the main "joke" throughout the series is that he gets into perverted situations unwillingly. There aren't many other jokes to find. Like I previously said, it's mostly now just more nudity, along with tentacle groping, imagined perverted fantasies, and girls accidentally cumming without showing it. It's the kind of stuff you'd expect from a hentai, but with this series, private parts + sex (or anything of the sort) will never be shown. It makes me wonder what's the point of pushing the "Borderline H" as much as possible without ever really planning on crossing it...
Everyone should stop saying how there's a plot to the series. Yes, there's an intended goal they're aiming for (the Harem Plan), but there's little-to-no evidence that actually proves they're getting closer to reaching it. After all, the damn series is episodic and will usually reset everything by the next chapter.
If you're really looking for a good harem manga to start, I strongly suggest trying out Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou. It is definitely episodic and has some clichés, but in this case, the girls are all "monsters" (half human-half animal hybrids) and are sometimes treated that way by humanity. The protagonist though assumes the responsibility of taking care of them all, and treats them like they're all ordinary human girls, each with a different "condition" he has to help deal with. In that sense, the series at least gives the protagonist some qualities that make it reasonable to fall in love with him. Beyond that, there are lots of funny situations/shenanigans they all get into, some occasional nudity + fan-service scenes, and some sweet moments between the protagonist and the girls. It's a nice, balanced combination that I can no longer find within To Love-Ru (Darkness)...

To love ru darkness is funny as all hell. Not much in the way of plot yet. I actually enjoy lala as a character more than the others, but each character feels fresh and different in their own way.a big part of me want the harem plan to actually go through lol. Rito, you lucky bastard
