Really good...

Hmm, I thought Emma was very good. Well, this one seems to be even better as it offers an interesting and amazing portrayal of life in the 19th century. Btw, I doubt the story was in the 1500s though, as the architecture seemed a little too advanced(maybe I'm off?) for that time. Furthermore, there was a guy wearing glasses complete with spectacle frames, an invention, I believe which only appeared in the last 200 hundred years or so.

To the poster who was offended by the act of killing rabbits: this is more like a documentary. Besides, most/many hunted with respect and economy for animals in those days, as opposed to the disrespect many have for the "mass farms of animal food" we get now.

I wish there were more chapters out! It has the simpleness of the Emma series but in a totally different setting. I love it so far smile

edit: I am in love with the twins' story with the 2 brothers. They're so adorable together and I love their relationships with each other. And the art details of their wedding were just ridiculously amazing!

From the creator of Emma comes another historical masterpiece...

The guy who only draws maids is no longer drawing maids? That's a shame...but I'm still hopeful. After only reading two chapters, I can tell this story is going to be amazing. I hope the romance aspects of this will further develop. Amira's husband hasn't even had his growth spurt yet!

I've always loved this artists style even if i didnt like the story line to emma (i felt it was a bit bland for my taste) but im feeling something that tells me that this will be a hit. im giving it a 9 for now but once more chapters come out ill probably change it to a 10.

to the writer below me lol your 2 centuries buddy it says in the description that this takes place in the 1500s

to the writer below the one below me *facepalm* we're doing way worse to people and animal in these days why are you so focused on this one act of hunting something, which most all of the world at that time did for meat. its not like she did it for fun and how else did you expect the author to show how good amira is with the bow and horse then have her hunt

The art is awe-inspiring. The attention to detail - next to none. There's not enough in terms of story to make a judge on whether this one is a winner or not, but I have a good feeling after reading the first chapter.

And to the poster below me: I understand that some people are opposed to the killing of and cruelty to animals, but you must put the girl's actions into the context of the story and background. This is the 19th/18th Century and it's a story about farmers/nomads - I highly doubt that during that time period there was any concept of animal rights and protection, especially in regards to a group of people removed from civilisation who depend on hunting to survive.

Anyway, I personally didn't have a problem with the rabbit hunting expedition. It's what people at that time and in that place did day to day.

I gotta say I'm disappointed in Kaoru Mori over this manga. Her art is beautiful, yes, but I was just disheartened by the fact her character killed those rabbits. I thought Mori would have more sensibility and sensitivity, but I guess not. She could have revealed her character's determination through something less cruel. Emma is better.

I don't even know what to say. Maybe I can simply say, I wish there was more? Everything is so detailed, and in one chapter you can see the character personalities forming, and... I just suggest people read it.

I'd go so far as to call Mori a mangaka wonder. The art is just too beautiful. The story is refreshing and focuses on history not based in Japan, China, Korea, etc (you don't see too much of that in manga). I'm awed- gaping mouth, big eyes and all. This made me an instant fan- and it only has one chapter out so far!

Wow....the art is just amazing...was staring at the details on each page for minutes, especially the clothes. The story itself seems interesting but since only one chapter is out, can't tell much about where it's going to lead to. Her previous works were amazing and hopefully this will turn out better. Can't wait for the next releases >.<

Another historical masterpiece (I dare say that from one chapter) judging from the amount of research she put in for Emma. It's a pity this one is not coloured.
