It was cute! really nice, I loved the art, it was funny. But it got really draaggy and the girl is incredibly oblivious to the guy. I got tired of reading it after awhile, and might consider picking it up again if the manga is COMPLETE. I don't understand how Kei can be so patient of her, I'm already impatient even after just the first few volumes.

seriously, the only thing that made me read this manga (i dont read shoujo that easily =P ) was Hikari not seeming like one of those uberly stupid, dense and useless heroines. otherwise, it's all the same; a friend group, love affairs, bla bla, the stuff we see in every shoujo manga. and unfortunately for my hours spent reading the manga,Hikari turned to a boring character from a very funny and enjoyable character. she somewhat let go of her goal as well =P but, on top of all of that, the fuckin pointless babbling about 'the happiness' and 'having fun' in the manga is what made me drop this series. so, uh, boring. =P

... not a great story?
I tried to like this but it didn't work out.
At the beginning, I loved Hikari. Spunky girl with a goal whose tired of being 2nd best against a guy who can remember everything, is good at everything and does... well, everything. But as I continued, she gradually became a lot dense in my eyes and my liking for her as a heroine dropped dramatically. She's as goodhearted as ever but... ehh.

I'm so irritated with the fact that the mangaka keeps introducing the characters' names and backgrounds in almost every single chapter of volume 1 and even volume 2. Kei is not the only person on earth who can remember things after reading it once! Nonetheless, it's a pretty cool series, I just need to read more of it (but got irritated not even halfway after starting).

update: ok I've read till chp 51 and the next chp available is 54 somehow and I think I can't tolerate this manga any further. Never before have I finished reading 51 chapters of manga within two working days! I think I skimmed.

a great manga overall with really cute and loveble characters, especially the main heroin Hikari. Sure shes a little bit to dense, but the great comedy makes up for it. The character development is quite slow unfortunetly, but very enjoyeble, especially the lovey dovey development between the main characters.

I would definitely recommend reading this manga

4 me is so funny,cute , romantic everything a shoujo manga should have and the story between hikari and kei is so sweet i starting to reading this year and i was truly amazed ´cause the characters are so amazing ,but the only thing i don´t like is the anime it can be compared with the manga really the manga is way to much but i think is ok
so please don´t comment silly and stupid things about hikari because she rocks and kei´s too

well... you can expect Hikari's personality to be too dense to ever come around. Kei will be as patient as the 'thinking man'. so we'll watch the side characters relationships progress while frustrating ourselves wondering why Hikari and Kei can remain so stagnant despite all the romantic traps and insinuations.

There's a limit to densness... Hikari has surpassed that.

but... she doesn't cry and whine like most typical shoujo heroines. although she definitely has a one-track mind that needs to be erased... still.. at least not a whiny crier.

I love Hikari. She's just sooo much fun and cute.
I always laugh so much reading this damn thing because of her...lol
What a great, likable character.

I have to admit- when I read the first volume, I wasn't impressed and had planned to give up on it. After reading a bunch of manga and running out of the ones with strong heroines, I went to take another look at Special A and fell in love with it. I love all the characters and the story is hilarious! Some people might find Hikari's obliviousness and competitive spirit annoying, but I found it endearing. It was a wonderful break from the overconsciousness of other shoujo heroines. As they are still in high school, i think it's best to have the relationship be steady now and not too deep into the "i love you"s. They're still kids and should just be enjoying the present.

I have to admit, there isn't too much character development, but the story is fun and fresh enough to make everything interesting. Though character development is slow, the character exploration is there and side characters get their time in the spotlight.

I love the fact how everyone seems to find their special somebody- there is no one left alone. One thing I dislike about manga/romance novels/dramas is that they're often really focused on the main male and female leads and present them as the only two people who can ever fall in love.

this was the very first manga for me to have ever read and now i totally love manga and now im in love with special a its just great, read it people. <3
