i don't care what others say but this manga is amazing!
the characters are so different and unique
Hikari kicks but although she's a bit dense but that's what makes her cute
the
Kai is awesome! they way they draw him makes him so cute! and the way he shows jealousy is awesome too...
the comedy's the best part! makes me laugh soo hard!
another thing is that it just doesn't focus on the main couple but on their friends relationships too.
the art is also very georgous to tell the truth i like this type the most

totaly recommended...=]

I really love the manga of "Special A" and its animated series. The plot is vivid and you can obviously see that this is a love high school story. I don't find this a nuisance or with annoying characters to some of you. Yes, Hikari may be a type who is so full of pride and is really dense when comes to relationship but seriously, if you read the manga properly, there IS development in each character as the story moves on. I have read in mangafox and Hikari is already slowly accepting Kei and trying her best to be in a love relationship with him though its only the beginning. The story is still ongoing, you know. Patience is the key!

This manga is supposed to be a romantically comedy. At least it makes you laugh. It didn't go overboard and the drawing is fantastic. The body and all is nicely drawn and you can easily tell the difference of who is who.

In short, Special A is a really great story and i have already recommended it to some of my friends. Even one of my friends who don't even have an interest in manga/animes at all, already love Special A so much biggrin

I have to say that I'm so refreshed by reading this manga! The humor in it is better than other romantic comedies in my opinion and the characters have quite distinguished personalities.... I myself can't help but to love Akira and Tadashi to death! Granted Kei and Hikari have their moments that probably drive most readers up a wall, I find it nice to be able to read about characters as off the wall as the ones in S.A.

I read Special A when it first came out, and it was just fantastic. Totally fantastic. After around half a year when they started scanlating this manga like crazy, the disappointment occured. I'm a drama-type person, I can be totally in love with cuteness, and happy fun, BUT THIS WAS JUST WAY TOO MUCH. NOTHING HAPPENS. It's almost always always the same, and it feels like once this manga actually ends, it will surely be disappointing. The art is naturally cute, but it seems, there is no plot at all. You'd think something would happen to Hikari and Kei (sorry, if they're not right.), and I don't mean that "OH MY GOD, SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN" stuff, since the mangaka doesn't use that to firther develop a story, using the excuse of Hikari's obvious "stupidity". Why is she scoring so high anyways?

Ugh

I enjoyed this manga for about the first 4 volumes. Then I got really sick of Kei's (the male lead's) attitude. He's extremely arrogant and self-centered and his moments of kindness always end with him doing or saying something mean. Instead of just teasing, he's often downright nasty. Hikari (the female lead) is never shown doing anything smart in the entire series. (I'd like to know why she scores so high on exams.) She's always really energetic and never has a REAL emotional crisis.

Neither Hikari nor Kei show any character development, even though Kei's family 'problem' is slowly revealed. They both remain completely obsessed with each other. The most development that happens is Hikari's shift in how she treats Kei (mostly due to his idiotic attempts to show he likes her). And Hikari's inability to realize that Kei likes her is ridiculous. In fact, the most developed character is Akira, and even that's not very much. This manga completely lacks depth.

However, that being said, it is kinda cute and funny, so if you don't care about character development, plot, emotional impact, and so on, then sure, why not read it?

It's entertaining - I really liked it. Sure, it is not the most in depth manga out there, but it does not lack character development. And if you look carefully, the characters grow and change. It's not explicitly stated or anything, but if you look at the way that the characters reaction to situations later on and compare it to how they were at the beginning, then yes, there is development.

On more trivial points...
The twins and Jun's relationship is really interesting and the chapter concerning it later on made me cry. (Who knows, I may have just been emotional at the time I read it...) And we get a chapter on Hikari's brother too - Hikari is not the only one who morphs into something terrifyingly violent when angered.

Ah-- currently, I'm rooting for YahiroxMegumi and RyuuxFinn the most! ^.^

The story is unique and i can't feel boring to this manga
Hikari is not sensitive enough to be a girl

I love the pair of Yahiro X Megumi..

lol i dont understand why people r so disappointed in this series. It's shoujo! I find this series entertaining enough to keep me reading up till chapter66. Isn't that good enough? U want very in depth character development? Go read a very intellectual book. Or simply avoid series labelled Comedy, though i admit there r comedies which r deep, but perhaps S.A isnt it :/

Disappointing

I had high hopes for this manga, it was an interesting idea and I heard plenty of how strong the heroine is. Boy was I wrong...
First, the heroine is terribly annoying. Although she's strong and doesn't go gaga over the guy, she's stupidly happy all the time. But when Kei was around, it seemed she had mood swings.. she would be happy-happy-joy-joy with her supposed rival one minute, then furiously mad and jealous the next. And must she make a competition out of EVERYTHING...

What really made me stop reading though was the utter lack of character development. I just really don't care what happens to them, thus the entire thing was boring to me. I can't even remember what happened in the five volumes I read..

In short, Hikari's annoying, there is no character development, and it's boring.

I was hoping for more character depth. I was hoping for Hikari to move up from being second rank. And I was hoping for an actually intelligent heroine.

Disappointing manga. It had potential, if there had been more effort put into the characters' personalities and plot development. It simply turned into another unmemorable shoujo.

Still, I give it props for the unique art.
