Hello, I'm looking for mangas that have an anti-hero or where the main character becomes a hero by doing something great.

Romance is a must, no yaoi or shounen ai.
I prefer it be mecha as well, but its okay if its not.

Ah, I also like those anti-hero guys, but since I found just a few minutes ago Underdog, I will mention this here first, even if I started reading it already some time ago and stopped then ... Maybe you want to give it a try, although there were no mechas in it? ^^

Edit: Ok, the romance part would be a problem with my first recommendation, so I'm going to look later for a romantic story. Sry.

I highly second Avian3's recommendations of Hoshi no Samidare, Akumetsu, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. All three manga are already finished.
Give Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro a few chapters; art and story become _a lot_ better quite soon, and Neuro is an awesome antihero.
On the other hand, Übel Blatt and Jormungand are great, too, but they aren't finished yet.

EDIT: I see you want romance. In that case, I think only Hoshi no Samidare fits your criteria.
