I really want to read a manga where the characters are unique. I want the main character to not be either a shy dumbass or the hero. I'm open to any genre but, a new comedy would be nice. I'm also open to anything. Yaoi, shounen, horror, josei, etc. Anything short of hardcore hentai. Gore is fine as well as ecchi just not explict sex.

Thanks!

Dorohedoro, seinen, violent, funny, unique setting.

You could also try All-rounder Meguru, realistic MMA&slice of life with a touch of comedy.

Bokura no Kiseki is a lot more interesting than it sounds from reading the description here on MU, so just check it out wink .

There's Homunculus, unique and quite serious.

You probably know about Eden: it's an endless world! already?
If you're open to a parody of action manga, One-punch Man can be pretty funny.

Dendrobates - MC has no problems with killing people, doesn't go all sooky lala because "uwahh I can't take a human life, blah blah"

Thanks everyone I added a few to my wish list. Pandora Hearts is something I've been saying maybe to for a while. All Around Meguru, and Dendrobates are up my ally too so I'm going to try these three first. I added a few to look at later as well.

Comedy mangas:
Ran to haiiro no sekai
Trump!
Bara no tame ni
Ciel
Hatenkou Yuugi
Saiyuki
Samurai champloo-Even if you've watched the anime the manga is still worth reading, and funnier in my opinion.
Wallflower-the 4 boys are very cliche but they're made to be like that so that the contrast between them and the mc female (that is definately not your cliche shoujo lead) make the manga funny.

Managas that have comedic aspects:
Dogs:Bullets and carnage
Otoyomegatari
Ludwig Kakumei
Shin Angyo Onshi
Vinland saga
Nabari no ou

Decidedly not comedic lol:
Yokokuhan
Skyhigh
Sprite
Japan Tengu Party Illustrated
The Devil Ororon
Golondrina

pretty broad, so I'll only add Bonnouji (you can/should skip chapter 22).

Noblesse No cliche characters. No dumbass/idiotic male lead. Highly recommended.

Holo from Ookami to Koushinryou is my best example of a female character that's it not tsun/yan/kuu/whatever+dere. Also Lawrence is not your typical hero. Another manga with an excellent cast is Gunslinger Girl. And there is Hakomari but it's a novel.

For comedy, the only fresh thing I can think off is probably Molester Man, despite having a little bit of cliché, I think the characters are good.

Kuragehime-this one is definitely different. I mean, the characters are shy because they are otakus, but they are definitely not cliche I don't think.

Thanks for more suggestions. I would elaborate some I chose and some I didn't but, sadly that is a hassel on a tablet. I am reading All Around Meguru and love its so far. Its reminds me a lot of Sakamichi no Apollon. Didn't like Noblesse and Pandora Hearts. I'm up to date on Tower of God and Noblesse seems similar. On a side note I would prefer more recent manga. One Punch Man is hilarious already reading that.
