You read a great manga, but for some reason it's off.
Everything about this manga you just read had all the elements you liked, maybe even an ending that was conclusive enough for you, but something is off. Something that is making you want to give said manga a worst rating. Like lack of something, or execution in one scene/the whole manga.

What manga(s) by all means you should have loved instead, but just couldn't? (and why?)

One of these was Absolute Witch . I really don't know, but I guess it was mainly the flow of this manga that left me thinking 'mehh'. Also the lack of info on the male lead. Really everything else was great, I even liked the ending. Which I don't often like the endings of mangas. For crying out loud it had an age gap ( Love those dead ), but the flow of the manga brought it down, and I couldn't bring myself to like to despite all things I loved being in it.
This next manga is a yaoi ... so I'll put it under spoilers.

Ibitsu na Kakera. I would have normally given this a 10 or high 9, but I couldn't. This manga had the Psychological, and Smut thing going on, Angst, Incest, Inferiority complex, Insecurity, and Jealousy,( All those tags are to my liking) but I couldn't bring myself to love this. Mainly because it had two brothers in it, and for some odd reason I was thinking of my own two sons while reading it. They were in the back of my mind, but I kept thinking. I really hope my sons don't turn out like this. If it wasn't for that ONE thought that was in the back of my mind, I would have given it a 10.

So far those are the only two mangas that I should have loved, but just couldn't.

***I really thought there would have already been a thread with this topic but I searched about 15 pages with keywords and could not find anything.

I really like to analyze things, so I can usually tell why I dislike something. A few series that I should like but that I don't are:
Psyren: it has pretty good plot writing. However, the characters are bland and boring, the world-building is uninteresting, and the constant resetting killed the tension.
Death Note: I still haven't been able to muddle past the first dozen or two chapters. The main character is so full of himself it's irritating. As a result I don't care if he dies or not, so I don't get any tension from the story. A shame, because I love mindgames.
Liar Game: Nao just really irritates me. I know she gets better, but still.
Shingeki no Kyojin: As soon as I realized that the core group had a 90% survival rate, the initial tension that attracted me to the series evaporated. What's left is a rather entertaining but not stellar mystery, and rather one-dimensional characters whose expressions are so badly-drawn that it's hard to empathize with their feelings.

Also, I don't Dislike it but... Basara: I absolutely love 7 Seeds from the same author, but Basara's core concept, of the two being in love despite not realizing that the other is the enemy, is something I find too stressful to read. I can overlook such things in most series, but not when it's the core theme of the story.

This happens a lot of time as I'm reading stuff, especially with kids manga. For example, in Aka-chan to Boku
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
there's that one single chapter in which there's a schoolgirl who's flirting around and smacking boys' bottoms.
That was so out of place. confused

Trace What i hoped from this manhwa, it gave me exactly the opposite or really little of it, not that it was that bad.
I could probably remember more, but i think its better for them to stay forgotten smile

Oyasumi Punpun - is a great manga. Good art, psychological theme, with all the depression and loneliness. The only problem with this manga was it was too good; to the point where me, as the reader felt depressed. Dropped after the 50 chapter.

It's got to be Katekin for me. I really like the premise and plot developments, I love the theme of youth, coming of age, trial and tribulation, the character drama, the comedy, and even the use of ecchi. But for some reason it feels like something is lacking, as if the mangaka had a great idea in her head but couldn't quite make it work. It feels like none of the storylines are fleshed out enough, so you end up feeling unfulfilled and wondering "Well what happened"?

Again!! I love characters like Imamura, there is time travel and all the characters are, like, losers (and a female really strong-willed!! Personality!!), so it should be pretty funny. Also, with the time travel element, there could be a good story development. But, I don't why, I'm up to chapter 24 and I even cried once reading it, but I don't really like it that much. You know when you look at the releases and think "omg, more than 10 chapters are out... Do I really have to read all that? Maybe when I have some patience...". So, I would really love to read the rest of the story to see if I can like it a bit more, but everytime I see the manga's page, I get a little frustrated and give up the idea.
