This week's poll came from icassop. So let's say your favorite series has been doing pretty well and has been lasting a while. What do you want for its future? Not exactly the best way to phrase a poll, but hey...
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

I fully agree to this. Their are to many series that don't have a end. But please don't end like cage of eden.

I think Gintama should end sooner than later. With gorilla's talent, new serialization would probably turn even better. Not that he has lots of constraints right now, but fresh start would probably give him creative boost.

ah idk depends on series.
i think Gintama should go on forever XD & i'm okay with Noblesse continuing for a while, though i don't think it should go on forever and ever.
several of my favorite shoujos have long needed an ending. Skip Beat for example... sigh.

Stuff needs to end especially if its been going on for say 26years (Berserk)!!
A good ending is like a satisfying meal at a nice restaurant which can be ruined it it takes too long to get or you fill up on too many appetizers. For me, manga is often either too short or too long. Rarely is it the right length.

Want it to end before it turns worse...
Sadly my fav series ( Noblesse ) has already been ruined by author with mindless action & repetitive plot with dumb villains

i prefer they end before it turn worse, but i really want them to end where the mangaka feel it should be without constrain from any one.
for example, berserk may have gone on for 26 years, but the plot is still tasty and i want to know more about the world he's living in.
Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi meanwhile, doesnt seems to have a plot and i dont care about it anymore so it should end soon.
now detective conan, eventhough its very long and i do not care about the plot at all as anything relating to the man in black is highly boring, i think it can go on indefinitely forever as those 'plot' doesnt really matter to the manga- whats important is the cases, and as long as the mangaka able to make good cases, i dont care if conan stay a child forever.
all in all -anything that dont have good plot should just wind down before you drag yourself down. like what dent say - you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villian.

This poll would really much depend on the series itself.
If it were mainly episodic it should go on forever but if the plot is actually heading towards an ending then it needs to end.
It's like how comic strips can go on indefinitely as long as they're popular.
As for my answer to the poll, I like series that can go on forever and ever and ever.

Want it to end before it turns worse - If it doesn't end they just drag out the story. Throwing everything in the books at you. Clichés would happen, or things just start getting repetitive.
I tend to dislike spinoffs.
I would only want a sequel if
A) side characters are now the main characters, with the occasional appearance of the old main characters.
B) The ending to the first was not good enough.
I would never want it to continue for infinity .... I don't have a good enough memory for that ( I'd have to reread it a couple of times, which I wouldn't want to do .... ) , and I would get bored of it.
Not sure why but I can't keep up with ongoing anything.
Longest I stuck to an ongoing manga was 1.5 years ( then drop it until it's finished, start from the beginning, get it over with in one go.)
(Even with the show Grey's Anatomy. I really liked the show saw 8 seasons straight. Still had S9 to watch, just dropped it, even though I was still interested in it. )
Hmmm maybe it more wrap it up instead of end it before it gets worse. I wouldn't want a rushed ending ....

Freezing made me choose the second option... But now, it's too late. It's ruined already...

i don't agree to this 100%, if you build a series about the characters rather then the story it can go on pretty much forever and i'd never get tired of it aslong as they can keep the quality up (and that is hard).
so most good things need a good ending!

It should end when it's supposed to end. But if it's jumped the shark, the author should wrap it up gracefully.
Sapphy's list of crimes against manga endings:
-Publishers forcing mangaka to continue work past where they want it to end
-Publishers forcing mangaka to end their manga without sufficient time to wrap up the story. (at least a 20 chapter grace period imho)
-Authors and editors letting good series keep going long after they're good. It's like leaving a tomato on the counter to rot. Just eat it before it goes completely rotten.

Great mangas shouldn't be dragged...like what is happening to Bleach...
and rush ending isn't a good idea either like, with Beelzebub...^^
One Piece and Naruto are doing extremely great...They need more and mor...and I believe they will be getting more anyway, at least One Piece will get 500≥ more...^^
Directive Conan needs to stop though, it's been a long time...are they tryin' ta reach 1000 ?
