Thats pretty much what I want to find now. A on-going, with recent updates, or completed manga with a main character and not tons of different characters that I read about every chapter. Most of the genres are welcome, especially romance, but for this one the restraints are:
No drama, no hentai, no yaoi, no yuri and preferably shounen seinen.
I want to read something thats happy go-lucky and funny with no need for a real plot. Can't think of an example right now except Denpa Kyoshi. No requirements for romance, it's just a plus.
All recommendations regarding these settings, that's a light read, is welcome.

Try Flat (AOGIRI Natsu). It's very peaceful.
Technically Centaur no Nayami is like that, but it has a darker side, imo.
There's Gokicha. It's a pretty 4-koma (really good art) about a kind cockroach girl. It's good, but maybe a bit sad at times (everyone misunderstands her).
Kuma Miko is a manga about a bumplin Miko and her advanced talking bear friend. It's unusual and fun, but try not to think... well, not to think.
I am being lazy and not peeking into your lists, but Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, of course, if you still haven't. And Yotsuba to!, ofc, just to be sure.
Moyashimon was starting off kinda slicey.
More on a philisophical side, but slicey (and sci-fi!): Dosei Mansion
Oh, damn, Denpa Kyoshi means you look more for comedy, and I listed a ton of calm slice. Well, maybe it'll be useful...
Then also maybe the usual Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Gintama, GTO, Gokusen, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan? Also maybe Deka Wanko, Safe Again Today?

I also love happy, fresh reads like that. But I watch more anime than I read manga, so my recommendations will include both:
Nisekoi (anime) - There's really not much to say...it's a harem, a romance with all its hilarious misunderstandings, and just a really enjoyable ride. However, the only thing that makes me doubtful about placing it here is the way the episodes alternate between different characters and their points of view. But there's still an definite, immediately identifiable main character. This anime is really great, though, so I recommend you see it anyway.
Last Game - This one is a manga, ongoing and regularly updated (for as long as I've been keeping my eye on it, at least). It's funny too. The main character's naivety makes the presence of something to laugh about found in nearly every chapter, and it's a romance.
Special A (anime) - It's popular, so maybe you've watched it already. Anyhow, it's a very inspiring, funny, cute and simply awesome anime to watch.
Kamisama Kiss (anime) - I don't doubt you haven't seen this one before either. It's amazing—hilarious, cute and meaningful. If anything, I want you to make an exception for this one.
That's all. Only one was a manga, for which I'm sorry, but do try the rest too if you haven't already. Good luck.
