I second both Faster Than a Kiss and Kimi wa Pet. I just finished Kimi wa Pet, and the story is really sweet. I understand you're trying to stay away from ecchi, etc., but it's not like that or anything. It has some nudity and such but it's not that visual. In conclusion, I ended up really glad when I finished it ^_^

Also, maybe Orange Planet? One of my first mangas to read. Very cute.There's also Running Through the City in the Sunset. I'd suggest Welcome to the NHK! but there's a lot of mature themes and Satou and Misaki only live together for a few chapters I think... Paradise Kiss, only they live together only for a few chapters, too..
