Dr. Love, your pimping is excellent and so earnest - I was sold on Maya Natsume the moment I saw your icon, but even if I hadn't been, you'd have convinced me. My brain kind of flat-lined at the "bondage equipment" phrase, so... Er. Does she, uh. I mean, she's a Domme, right? (Wait. Gotta be careful, I don't want this switched to the R-18 forum when I'm looking for chaste recommendations as well...)

I'll just check out the manga and find out for myself. Ahem.

Juneau, I much appreciate your list, but if I may clarify... I thought "Kodomo no Jikan" was lolicon, right? Or is there an adult woman who is dominant in a relationship, somewhere among the cast? (Lolicon kind of squicks me, alas, so I tend to steer clear of it unless there's something truly rewarding in other sections of the manga.) "Shin Angyo Onshi" sounds like a great read, though! I don't mind if I have to wait a while for the girl-on-top romance to arrive, so long as it actually does arrive.

Sorry to break your expectations, but she's not. 🤣
It's just the mangaka's pet-peeve to

Well, it's not like any other Lolicon - from what I've read/heard anyways. The main girl is assertive for her age, and wise too.

... Er.

Dr. Love, I do believe that you have just committed murder via the Internet. Never had I thought such a crime possible, but considering that I am now drowning in my nosebleed, I suppose that I should thank you for enlightening me. Gwuh.

surreptitiously right-clicks and saves that picture for future, uh, reference

That - okay, so she's not a Domme, but - for some reason, I'm not in the least disappointed... (Gee, I wonder why?) And that picture certainly is suggestive enough. I might have to make another thread in the R-18 forum, I guess, about "girls on top" in more explicit ways...

But for now! Chastity. Yes. Chastity, purity... Getcher-mind-outta-the-gutter, Atlanta...

An ice-pack might help.

Uh, Cuttingwaters, many thanks for your list! Even out of those, which do you think is the most dominant woman? Like, your #1. Actually, I should probably ask the others this, too... So that I know where to start. So many women, so little time!

P.S. It just occurred to me that the very chaste romance-but-not-really going on in "Claymore," between that village boy and Clare, definitely has Clare in charge. He looks up to her, hero-worships her and follows her around, right? Not that they actually have a "relationship" per se, but I think that the manga may be heading in that direction, and whoo-ey, I can't wait to see it when it does. 😀

P.P.S. Although I'd still prefer it if Clare got together with one (or all) of her female comrades. Just sayin'.

Can't disagree there. 😉

I'm torn whether to put Black Lagoon here or in the subtext thread, since it's a little lacking in romance. I can't really vouch for the manga version either, it's been gathering dust on my reading list for a while now.

Oh, and as for Kodomo no Jikan, it's an excellent read (not explicit so far), it's quite cute but deals with heavier issues. The storytelling and art are top notch, and can actually be quite scary at times (don't want to give anything away).

Yo Atlanta, If I have to choose one than I would have to recommend Mysterious Girlfriend X 😀

I wanted to say Skip Beat! when you said strong female, but there is practically no romance at all.. (The romance adds up to the love interest and main char

hugging once or twice in all the 110+ chapters.)

and I'd second Claymore, even though there hasn't been much romance at all. It certainly fills your criteria in the aspect with Clare on top.

Sadly, everything I was going to suggest has already been suggested. So I'll just second the following manga:

Sundome. To say the girl is the dominant one in this relationship would be an understatement.

Girlfriend. It's a series of individual stories, so not all will fit your description, but I'm sure some of them do. Plus it's quite good none the less.

Nazo no Kanojo X. The weirdest manga you will ever read. At first it seems weird just for the sake of being weird, but eventually it all seems (relatively) normal. Fits your description of what you want, too.

Ghost Sweeper Mikami
Mikami is an amazing female lead who I think you'll appreciate. And she's definitely on top, ALWAYS. Although at first this seems like your typical shounen series, it's really quite good with an interesting plotline. Unfortunately you might get turned off at the beginning because the male lead appears as the groveling perverted weak male type (I hate those too), but it's really just a comic front. There's a lot of character development. Honestly, I'm not really a shounen reader (AT ALL)... and slapstick comedy isn't really my thing... and the art isn't that great... but I do recommend this one! There's just something about it. So give it a try!!! 😀
