So, I really haven't been following anything anime/manga related for the past 2 years, but I'm looking to read some while I have time to kill. Does anyone know of any new manga that's either over the top action (but not incredibly stereotyped like Naruto) with a lot of humor, or slice of life comedy like Azumanga Diaoh or Lucky Star. Or any unique manga that is off the beaten path so to speak (not looking for romances or yaoi or yuri).

Thanks dawgs.

Minami-Ke: It's like Azumanga Daioh
Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Sket Dance It gets more and more interesting as you go along.
1/2 Prince Yeah, it's "romance" but it doesn't even go that far into it, but it's something I would definitely recommend
Oh, and for "over the top action," Beelzebub is a perfect fit. (You'll love it so much! =D)

edit: I'll keep adding whatever else I can think of.

You might want to try Noblesse.

Beelzebub Comedy/Action. Most hilarious manga to come out in the past 5 years. Every week comes with new jokes (Akumano Academy lol)
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha Fantasy/Romance/Comedy. Looks REALLY promising and you can tell the author is really good at thinking things through and using it to make an amazing story.
Nurarihyon no Mago Fantasy/Supernatural. One of jump's best new series, it's about 3 years in, so I don't know if you've read it, but if you haven't, definitely do.
Kubera Webcomic/Fantasy. Basically takes a lot of hindu lore and adapts it into a really interesting action/adventure with a female lead (several in fact).
Tower of God Fantasy/Comedy/Webcomic. A coming-of-age story that tells the tale of Baam and how he is following his childhood friend (love?) up "The Tower" in order to help her realize her dream.
Green Boy Comedy/Romance/Webcomic. A sports/coming-of-age/romance, and my top story right now.
Orange Marmalade Drama/Romance. VampireXHuman romance done the right way (eg: not Twilight).

Honestly, the something that's really come to fruition recently is the advent of Korean Webcomics. The new reading style and way story progression might be a little awkward at first, but once you get used to it it becomes really exhilarating. Definitely check out some of those.

Thanks guys, I started reading Beelzebub. What about anything with a similar flair to GTO? Not necessarily the same setting, but the vibe of hilarity and gratuitous art made me giggle the whole time.

Have you read Sora no Otoshimono? It's exceedingly gratuitous... but has a story underlying all the humour.
