Best Series with High-School-Age Characters

Suddenly I realize that in only a few months I won't be able to sympathize with the characters in the majority of manga (based solely on age)!
So do tell me some of the very best, most popular series out there which involve high school life that I may read before these months pass. Any genres except for sports and ecchi are fine.

Thanks for the suggestions! By the way, high school life doesn't have to be the focus of the series; something like Please Save My Earth, in which the main characters are in high school but aren't portrayed at school most of the time, is just right (especially if it's anywhere near as good a it).
