I'm looking for a manga thats similar to Spiral
Something long, thats either seinen or shounen. I'm not completly finished but the arts gotten a little better and the story is improving and With some Romance involved (The amount in Spiral would be close to the minimum amount I would like.)
Spiral was a find that took awhile so I'm looking for something either not usually recommended.(maybe Xblade or Kagetora would fit)
The generes for Spiral are Drama, Mystery, Psychological, School Life Sci-fi, Shounen .
School life, Psychological, and shounen/seiinen are some of my prefered geners.
Also like
Historical, comedy-Romance, Action, and martial arts/sports
(and some echii is a plus) 😀
Some examples of manga I enjoy/enjoyed
Mirai Nikki
Kenichi
Hajime no ippo
Kekkashi
Shin Angyo Onshi
Beserk
Claymore
Kiseijuu
Angel Densetsu
Yanki-kun to Megane-chan

This would be easier if you made your lists public...
These are some of my personal favorites. Some of them are pretty well known, but since your lists aren't public, I can't tell if you read them, so I'm just going to suggest them;
Actiony;
Historie
Ares
Vinland Saga
Aflame Inferno
Lives
Ubel Blatt
Franken Fran
Zero
Inugami (Rather similar to parasyte
Kurozakuro
Freezing
X-gene
World Embryo
Has some to no action;
Cesare
Dance! Subaru
Piano No mori
Another thing that would work, is go to the genre search, check the action/seinen boxes, then do the options that say "At least 1 release" and "Not on any of my lists" and then sort them by rating.

They are pretty well-known but good, so I say ES, Ghost Hunt and xxxHolic.
Also try these:
Gunslinger Girl
The Embalmer
Switch
Bartender
Dark Edge
Mermaid Saga
Ai-Ren
Sangatsu no Lion
Hatsukanezumi no Jikan and Lament of the Lamb
I would also suggest "Bungaku Shoujo" to Shi ni Tagari no Douke as it's my personal favorite as well as Spiral. I know it's not going to be short, but not much has been scanlated.
Spiral is one of my fav manga. It's quite different but I say you can give Pluto a chance and I don't think you'll regret that. Probably also Monster.
But the closest manga to Spiral is Alive imho.
Other ones you could enjoy are Ookami to Koushinryou, Vampire Juujikai, Chrno Crusade, Hikaru no Go, Elfen Lied, Watashitachi no Tamura-kun.
I know that something seems not to fit much, so it's up to you if you want to trust me or not. 😀
And judging for the other manga you listed, something less known in the case you already know everything listed here could be Kurogane and Kurozuka.
Between the already mentioned I highly second Ares, Historie, World Embryo, ES and Gunslinger Girl.

Long lists like that are the best (lots of options)
and about my list its not that I won't make it public its that I'v read so much I havent spent the time to update it. It has less than the list of manga i posted on here.
@ Reid1
Monester - Started anime and enjoyed but site I used to watch crashed and lost my place and never got back to watching it...(is the manga better?)
Alive - looks good I'll check it out
Pluto - heard about it and considered reading it before (looks I like a very good seinen suggestion so much appreciated)
Ookami to Koushinryou - Loved the anime
Chrno Crusade - Another I prevesously considered but forgot (so I'll prob check it out)
Hikaru no Go - currently reading (and enjoying)
Elfen Lied - watched anime and not sure to continue into manga
Watashitachi no Tamura-kun - I'll read this 2
Kurogane - never heard of it and looks like an intresting seinen
Kurozuka - Considered but some of the negative comments kept me away. (I'll reconsider)
Ares - One of my favourates (should have includen on my list)
Historie - Looks intesting but I'm a history buff and love ancient greece so torn between loving the era and the possible mistakes about ancient greece(hows the authors understanding?)
World Embryo - Never heard of and looks good thanks 😀
ES - Tragety usualy ends up pissing me of so I don't enjoy but it looks good enough to try ( few "tragety" mangas have actualy been trageties out of the mangas/animes I'v read/watched
Gunslinger girl - considered and it looks intresting but its a tragety
btw - I don't hate tragety its just I haven't read to many mangas that are good with that in the description (that and I find it makes alot of plots predictable). Also some that are listed as trageties really aren't . If you don't think that those ones fit into my problems plz tell me
@ base_goat
Ghost Hunt - I'm someone that usually hates Shojo (but I have enjoyed a few) this actually looks very pretty promising
xxxHoLic - Heard of but never gived it more that a glance ( regreting it because it look good)
Shigeshoushi - never read a Josei but looks like I might soon
Switch - Looks really good (might read this first)
Bartender - I'v read only a few slice of life mangas but how is this compared to the most popular
Dark Edge - Seems like (along with switch and a few other suggestions) another reason to stop my slowly developing hate for the shounen genre (can't stop with so many bad shounens)
Ai-Ren - Same tragety problem, but this (from comments) looks legitimately sad
Sangatsu no Lion - This looks really good and will read when I'm in the mood for slice of life
Hatsukanezumi no Jikan - Never heard of and good suggestion
Hitsuji no Uta - The combination of horror and tragety along with phycological romance makes this intresting
"Bungaku Shoujo" to Shi ni Tagari no Douke - Seing as its a your favourate and you'v given nothing but good suggestions I'll read it
@ Dragonfiremule
Vinland Saga - I know is one of the most popular Historical mangas but I'v never read it (is it really a must read for Historical?)
Aflame Inferno - One of my favourates
Lives- looks like a good shounen
Ubel Blatt - I'v allready started to read it but for some reason I stopped... starting to regret that and prob will resume soon
Franken Furan - Looks good and will read
Zero - Saw it before and forgot about it, thanks for the reminder
Inugami - loved Parasyte so I'll check this out
Kurozakuro - another kinda similar to Parasyte (enough to get my intrest)
Freezing - On my wish list
X-Gene - Plot seems fine but does its 3 volumes have enough depth?
The non-action's (which can be fine)
Cesare - seems intresting
Subaru - never read a dance manga
Piano no Mori - Seems intresting but how much depth in the sense of music is there?
replying took some time but thank you for your recommendation
I don't think I'v ever seen a thread with so many suggestions I had never read and I don't think I saw one bad sugestion.
Now I think I'll be happy for a while
😀
that took a while

Is there anything like Lives that is long and ongoing?

Monester - Started anime and enjoyed but site I used to watch crashed and lost my place and never got back to watching it...(is the manga better?)
I didn't watched the anime, but I almost every time prefer manga, so I'm pretty sure I'd have said that it's better if I could make a comparison.
Quote from Kingmitch23
Chrno Crusade - Another I prevesously considered but forgot (so I'll prob check it out)
This is a few case where I preferred the anime. But anime is more tragic so if you don't like sad stories maybe should try the manga.
Quote from Kingmitch23
Elfen Lied - watched anime and not sure to continue into manga
I didn't like the anime very much. I love the manga and I think it's a lot better. If you have time give it a try. Again, I've to tell you, it's one of the most tragic manga I read.
Quote from Kingmitch23
Kurozuka - Considered but some of the negative comments kept me away. (I'll reconsider)
Many people said it's sort of copied from other stuff, but I liked it anyway. Not a masterpiece but I didn't have many expectations when I started it so I was nicely surprised. Also I liked a lot the art.
Quote from Kingmitch23
Historie - Looks intesting but I'm a history buff and love ancient greece so torn between loving the era and the possible mistakes about ancient greece(hows the authors understanding?)
The author is quite good. I'm studying history at university so I'm of course really critic on that aspect. Of course there are a lot of stuff that he had to invent just to make the manga more appealing, but the historical background is very good, not like Cesare which is quite absurd in that imho (sorry to all Cesare fans).
Quote from Kingmitch23
World Embryo - Never heard of and looks good thanks 😀
It's the same mangaka of Chrno Crusade, so I suggest to try that before this. Less tragic than CC and more shounen-ish for now, but I'm only at the 4th volume (I'm not following the scan but buying in my language).
Quote from Kingmitch23
ES - Tragety usualy ends up pissing me of so I don't enjoy but it looks good enough to try ( few "tragety" mangas have actualy been trageties out of the mangas/animes I'v read/watched
Then this is probably the greatest difference in our tastes (I like tragedy a lot). But I don't think of ES as a tragedy, at least not like other manga (I mean it's less tragedy than Shin Angyo Onshi to give you an example).
Quote from Kingmitch23
Gunslinger girl - considered and it looks intresting but its a tragety
This is the best tragic manga I've ever read. It's so beautiful but so sad, so if you aren't into that you probably would like to skip it (but it's a pity because it's so good).

@Reid1
Is there anything like Lives that is long and ongoing?
I'm not reading Lives, it's the same mangaka of Battle Royale which I don't like so I never checked this manga. Maybe you can try Battle Royale if you like this, it's from the same mangaka.

I can say that between those manga the most tragedy is imho in Gunslinger Girl, Pluto, Elfen Lied, Vampire Juujikai (but this one has a little of comic relief) and maybe Chrno Crusade (more the anime than the manga).
I forgot (but I think you already know it) Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (novel > anime > manga). If you're looking for something more cheerful with school life and some ecchi but still a clever story go for it.

Switch and Ghost Hunt are not like the usual shounen and shoujo, that's why I recommended them. I think someone who enjoyed Spiral will be likely to enjoy them.
The Embalmer IMO has a more mature feel. The protagonist is a guy who works in a special profession and this is about his life and the people he encounters. It has a slight psychological feel.
Bartender is slice of life but not slow-paced. I read it mainly for the characters and their problems and lives. The drinks are a plus though some say the author is not enough an"expert" in the field (I don't care much though). The anime is quite different from the manga but I like both. You could try it too. It's well-produced.
The Hour of the Mice and Lament of the Lamb are my favorites. This author is excellent at character development and many things in her works will surprise you.
I second Franken Furan. It's a hilarious dark comedy and even with a bit of depth. It's not like those you like but worth a try.
As to Mermaid Saga, I recommend the anime (made in 2003 with 13 eps) since the manga's art style might be too old.
I would also recommend an anime called Black Jack 21. It's based on the classic manga Black Jack's characters but is an "updated" story set in the 21st century. You will probably like it no matter whether you have read the old manga.
Another idea is King of Thorns, a good sci-fi manga. Soil is a also one to try with less mainstream art. It seems that it's actively scanlated.

Alot of these manga's have a very prominsing plot and interesting characters but a few old habits regarding manga keep me back, some I have to break.
- Length - Some of the first manga's I read (Beserk, Hajime no ippo, Gantz, Kenichi, Tenjou Tenge) are long ongoing manga's. They range from 100 - 800 chapters which is alot. This makes me hesitate to read anything under 6 volumes.
2)Ongoing- Those same manga's were all ongoing and I can usually wait a few weeks and have close to a dozen new chapters to read(I read in bunches) So this kept me off of completed manga for a while which really limited my available manga
3)Mood - Usually I read at night untill I'm tired, on weekends I can read alot. Reading at night gives me more of a reason for lighthearted manga as opposed to the seinen\s and/or trageties I would normally enjoy (I enjoy them as movie and novel genres)
4)Appreciation - Like I said before I read in bunches and that means short manga's can be finished way to fast. There have been some mangas that while I was reading them I would love but because I could finish it in just one night I really forgot a lot of good manga.
5)Saving for later/not updating - I have stumbled across many good mangas and sometimes theres a similar problem I create for myself when reading them...I don't finish them. Should sound weird but I end up saving alot of manga for later. I currently have half a dozen series that I enjoy with 20-30 chapters unread because I want to read it when I think I can enjoy it more(i.e. I view weekday reading as filer reading and often try to save the best mangas for the weekend.)
I also save up chapter on ongoing to save for later.
and the last problem I will list is due to your lists (all your fault) and its that I start a thread based of something I like (i.e. Spiral) and then wait for some good suggestions(yours). Then I read one of those suggestions but instead of continuing down the list of recommendations I love the recommended manga so much I start looking for manga like that.
