It follows the life of a homeless boy living with his "grandpa". The story starts to kick off when they encounter a man trying to commit suicide mumbling something along the lines of "before it is too late". Of course from then on the action begins and the dark plot begins to unfold with each volume.

I am much confuse (contains spoilers)
Zetman is great, art and battle sequence wise. But my main problem is the development of character and plot. Sure the character and evol designs are amazing, but the fact that Jin fell in love with Hanako in the span of two or three days and then the major time skips (5 years, then 2) that were done within the first fifty chapters or so, and then the old guy losing motivation to create Zet - they all happened too quickly and seemingly without reason. Also I don't know what purpose Konoha really serves other than to be a link between Jin and Kouga and to be the 'light' even though now Hanako is technically the heart of Jin (?). I mean the battles are great but I really feel like the story lacks character and plot depth to make it a true masterpiece.
Need's a scanlator
I had heard about this manga for years but assumed it was some kamen-rider-esque hero manga, but boy was I wrong. I've been reading it for a year now and my only disappointment is that no other group but Evil Genius wants to translate it. I love them but christ are they slow...
I had heard of Zetman before but it had never really caught my interest. It started off a bit blandly and I was going to give it up but then it took a sudden dark turn and the plot got a lot more twisted and grim and I was hooked! Great read so far.
Zetman, I will get straight to the point Pros - awesome art, expected from a veteran but seriously holy smoke those backgrounds, they look like photographs! Actually his manga reads like a black and white movie! - nice story, it's refreshing to see a manga doing a different take of the superhero genre - not cliche, frankly I cannot guess what's gonna happen next, it could go so many ways - wide range of characters
Cons - too much dialogue, the text bubbles are just seriously overwhelming, I got bored of reading the text and stopped altogether at a certain point cause its seriously making the story read more like a novel than manga. But then if you don't read it, you won't fully understand the entire story. Not a good trade off cause you wanna understand it or you will seriously be lost. - jumps around, I don't like how it jumps around between Jin and amagi's perspective; I find that disruptive like some reviewers stated below. But that only lasts to like maybe volume 8ish so I guess it's kind of like a half con maybe?
To conclude, this manga is the beast if and only if it condenses the dialogues up but otherwise READ IT! This is a helluva good manga that explores a lot of different themes and ideas regarding good and evil and it really just provokes you thoughts! Combine with his amazing art and you got a winner here! ( maybe a winner if berserk disappeared from this world)

An imminent classic!
Read through 135 chapters so to sum it up this is a work of art. The monsters are truly horrifying! Very dark manga with good plot, and great art. As you read they reveal more and more of the back story. It is confusing at first but it will click. I really like the character designs. There are many twist in the series as well that may blow your mind. If you do not mind intense gore and can get through sexual explicitness, and love complex plots as well as dark stories try it out!
P.S There is excellent horror (fear and suspense) and a touch of classy romance which is an interesting mix

Mind = Blown
To go from the mediocrity of I''s to this, so much respect for this mangaka. Keep in mind as you read this manga that there will be two protagonists. There's one arc where it follows and establishes the second protagonist, showing only him for multiple volumes. This can feel kind of annoying/long/less interesting. But by the end of that arc it was as good as the rest of the series. So when you reach that point, just keep reading.
And the whole series is building up the the confrontation shown in the flashforward in the prologue. Really excellent job done here.
Zetman's romance feels a little off, but the other protagonist's was done really really well.
And Haitani is one of my favourite villains of all time. So good.

Well….where should I start. First and foremost, I think this manga doesn´t quite reach the expectations I once held. After hearing of how “awesome” and how big of a “masterpiece” it is, I decided to give it a shot. And well…without sugarcoating it, I´m quite disappointed. Don´t get me wrong, I´m not saying it´s bad, I´m just saying it isn´t necessarily good.
So far I love the plot and some of the characters may have flaws (I´m not a big fan of Kouga, but I can quite grasp what the author tried to portray him as after reading further in the manga, so he isn´t that much of an annoyance anymore) . What I hate though, and this is a matter of taste, is the romance. I´m not a fan of romance in Seinen manga, and ´m absolutely not a fan of it when it´s this kind of plot. It´s annoying and it is unnecessary. Feels like the author put girls in the manga for the Ecchi, which explains the amount of boobs and rape attempts we get to see. But that´s a matter of taste as I mentioned before.
Either way as it seems now, I may continue reading it.
Did I read it wrong? Spearsmen, most of the time I agree with your opinion, but to call Video Girl AI or I"s being masterpiece, I cannot disagree more. Here I come to tell people that the mangaka made some kind of revolution with his works. This piece, that is Zetman, is totally masterpiece. Way better than the two I mentioned earlier. "Its like going from 2 to 8 on the scale of 10." And if I may add, still much more better than your so called Gantz. Perhaps this is because the mangaka was let free to design its development, unleashing the genius in him.
Best to note, "Despite its complex development, the characters retain their charms. You will read shits befall on all the important characters, which in time made you understand why them being themselves. Pretty fucked up their lives are, but pretty envious how their personality later turned up."
Oh, if you happen to be too stressed reading this manga, the cuter series -- that is Ratman -- of the same theme might cheer you up. Cheer!
at first, like the first 40ch or so i am completely lost. why this, why that, what the hell just happen? but as the story progress and i get to see farther and farther into the landscape i appreciate the intricately made storyline. this manga have weird flow, it jump and stop where i thought it shouldn't but if you bear with it you can get what it mean in the end. i like the different character design, so somehow i can differentiate between characters which is quite rare these days. sometimes the posing is a bit too much, the expressions a bit too crazy, but this is seinen after all. i'm not into jin's struggle so i think kouga really help in making me feel a bit attached to this manga - he is so stupid and naive, but in the end his heart is in the right place. this is worth a read.
"2 Year later" reply at "krosko"
Dude, just because you don't understand the premise of the rape scene(s) doesn't mean it was useless. Zetman is a very dark SEINEN! The rape was supposed to teach Kouga the darkness of the REAL world. Since the real world is not pretty. I can't even believe that you said that Zetman's story was "so poorly developed". It was developed in a fantastic way! I wonder what your idea of "good" storytelling is. I do admit that Zetman does lack in ways because of Kouga(since he's a complete and utter justice freak and an idiot) and his arc. I can't believe that you said he should just be an artist and NOT an author. It's obvious that you didn't read any other mangas that Masakazu Katsura has written. I's and Video Girl Ai were MASTERPIECES. Anywho, Zetman is an amazing manga no doubt. It's just that Kouga is one of the most despised characters in the manga even though he's supposed to be Jin's sidekick.
